According to a survey conducted by MovieTickets.com, the Amazing Spider-Man 2 teaser trailer that debuted during Super Bowl XLVIII was the ‘most effective’ of all the movie spots aired that night.

From the L.A. Times:

Spider-Man swept the competition at the Super Bowl.

The promotion for “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” was the most effective commercial that aired during Sunday’s broadcast of the Super Bowl, according to a survey by MovieTickets.com.

The company, which sells tickets on behalf of more than 260 theater chains in 22 countries, surveyed nearly 5,000 active moviegoers to rank the most effective movie commercials, based on which ones were the most remembered and the most likely to convince consumers to watch the films in theaters.

And it was a clean sweep for Sony Pictures’ promotion for the latest Spider-Man installment, with 77% of respondents saying they remembered seeing the ad during the game, edging out the commercial for “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” which got a 75% score.

“Need for Speed” came in third (70%),  followed by “Captain America: The Winder Soldier” (48%) and “3 Days to Kill” (38%), according to the survey.

Additionally, half of overall respondents went to YouTube to continue watching SuperBowl ads. The film-related commercial they were most eager to search and watch again was “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” followed closely by the spot for “Transformers: Age of Extinction.”

Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters May 2nd, 2014.

  1. Don’t get Superbowl over here so wouldn’t know what they aired. Would imagine the 30 second spot though, like the other movie trailers. I watched’em all online afterwards.

  2. Transformers was just a 30-second commercial. That’s why I was asking which Spidey spot aired on tv – if it was the 3.5 minute one then of course it would be the one more people remembered.

  3. I read it was Transformers that was the most remembered one, then Spidey. Of course,I remember no such thing as Transformers. What’s that again? Some kinda transformation do-hickey for women? The extended trailer for Spidey was just TIGHT!

  4. Which spot aired during the Super Bowl? Was it the 3.5 minute one that was on the front page?
