“Ultimates Become All-New Ultimates, Ultimate Fantastic Four Becomes Ultimate Future Foundation…”
Feeling Ultimate yet? The Associated Press reports today that the current Cataclysmic Galactus storyline will allow Marvel to reimagine/revamp/retool/reboot the Ultimate Comics universe one more time.
Following – well, whatever happens in Cataclysm – the resulting ‘new’ version of the Ultimate Comics universe will now be Ultimate Marvel NOW! and will consist of three titles:
1.) ‘Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man’ by Brian Bendis and David Marquez.
2.) ‘All-New Ultimates’ by Michel Fiffe with art by Amilcar Pinna. This young team consists of Miles Morales, Ultimate Cloack & Dagger and other young types.
3.) ‘Ultimate FF’ (Future Foundation) by Joshua Hale Fialkov and Mario Guevara. This title features Ultimate Tony Stark, Ultimate Sue Storm and an ‘ultimate psychopath’ who represent what is left of the Ultimate Comics Universe’s ‘big brain’ types following Cataclysm.
No word yet on whether the Ultimate Marvel Now! titles will also adopt the not-so-Ultimate 616 Marvel numbering system. But it’s a safe bet at this point. For more check out the AP story.
–George Berryman!
Sigh…. so basically this is like Ultimatum. They made this big deal about having the Ultimate universe end, only to go “oh no wait….. sorry we’re just rebooting it”
I’m gonna give it another 2 years b4 they pull this stunt again
I had hoped that miles crossing over to the mainstream universe would mean he would stay there. How cool would have it been to have a team of spider-men (Peter, Miles and Miguel)?
My mistake.
George knows why I ask about the reboot count. Something about getting away from the trappings of convoluted continuity, I think?
And I’d like to go on record as saying that I’m glad Miles made it. They took a sales gimmick from Bendis and fleshed him out into an actual character.
@7: After “The Ultimate series will end” for months, this comes out. Lame trolling from Marvel
@10: Can’t have Ultimate Universe without saying that word, huh?
Well the ultimate fear was that Miles would cease to exist, so I’ll take this news. Now I just need to know if Ganke and Gwen are still main characters. I’ll only be picking up the main Miles Morales book, so as long as it remains close to Miles’ initial run it’ll be ecstatic.
They really should call the book Ultimate New amWarriors because that is what this Nes team is. Liking the new title name for Miles’ book.
I guess Pete’s dead for sure. I thought “Spider-Men idea was great. Why not have a team?
I don’t really read the Ultimate comics (still spying on the mess that is SSM), but I’ve read enought to understand what’s going on. Honestly, this a really cool idea, alone with their own adaptation of the FF. Might actually check it out once Amazing returns to the stands.
Also:
-Ultimate Spider-Man
-Ultimate Comics Spider-Man
-Ultimate Comics Spider-Man vol. 2
-Cataclyms: Ultimate Spider-Man (granted, it’s a mini series leading into the next volume)
-Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man
Third reboot; technically the 5th Ultimate Spidey #1.
WHAT DO WE WANT?
ULTIMATE MARVEL!
WHEN DO WE WANT IT?
ULTIMATE MARVEL NOW!
Things of interest:
-Ultimate Spider-Woman changing her name to Black Widow
-The ‘ultimate psychopath’ in the FF is probably Ultimate Reed.
-Miles in a hoodie on a cover. Gotta love it, eh George?
-Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man…there doesn’t necessarily need to be an Ultimate Universe for him to be the Ultimate Spider-Man; but with all these other characters and titles; maybe Galactus doesn’t eat the /entire/ universe, and this is just some world reshaping ala Ultimatum? Though hopefully pulled off better…
Very glad Bendis is continuing to do Miles Morales stuff. They can pretty much do what they want with the rest of the Ultimate Universe aside from that. (Although I assume making Ultimates into a Miles-centric team is a reaction to him being the main Ultimate thing that people are still excited about. Might buy it if the reviews are good.)
@3 – Third time if I recall correctly?
@9 – “I think we need to let go of renumbering”
LOL no. Asinine numbering deserves to be called out and mocked.
Really happy Miles’ adventures are continuing, and the team up book sounds good too. I think we need to let go of renumbering and just be happy the story is continuing
I like the title “Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man” a lot.
All the previous comments don’t need new material
They sum the situation perfectly
Sorry…..but this is stupid.
*Facepalm*
So the Ultimate Universe has been rebooted again… how many times does that make now, George?
Starting to get the feeling Marvel still doesn’t realize what the term “ultimate” actually means!
Dully noted.
That’s not a typo.
