Venezuela President Blames Spider-Man For Violence in Country

101037_600Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro was recently interviewed by a reporter and cited Spider-Man and specifically the movie Spider-Man 3 as the cause of so much violence in his country. He is quoted as saying,

That’s the trouble, from the beginning until the end there are more and more dead. And that’s one of the series small children love most… because it’s attractive, it’s from comics that are attractive, the figure, the colors and movements… so much so that we finished watching it at four in the morning.

According to the report Venezuela is one of the most violent countries in South America. There  were 16,000 murders in 2012. That dang wallcrawler and his lack of responsibility.

  1. Fantastic issues altogether, you simply gained a new reader. What may you recommend about your submit that you made some days in the past? Any positive?

  2. If you finished Spider-Man 3 at 4am then you started wayyyy late into the night. That movie is 2hr long. And Spider-Man is only 50 years old Venezuela has been violent longer than that.

  3. 1. HuffPo says “Spiderman”. If this is covered on the podcast I expect this is the first thing Brad will (and should) point out.

    2. He says SM3 is full of dead from the beginning until the end. Why isn’t he complaining about all the crying?

    3. I’m convinced he’s saying this because he’s upset about Spidey saving Spain’s economy with those Spider-Man towels and just wants him to come save Venezuela.

You know where I already read this kind of excuse ? in the 70’s when “famille de France” and other kind of associations censored the publication of the comics in France (even if in fact it was for the reason that it was a bad for the french.belgian comics selling , censoring the concurencies more easy than proposing good product).
but that’s funny the reasons evoked at that time are exactly the same.
