Those darn reporters, they keep getting scoops out of Felicity Jones about her role in Amazing Spider-Man 2. In a previous clip she sort of confirmed she’s playing the Black Cat. She now confirms she’s the Goblin’s girlfriend. Here’s the quotes.
Can you tell us anything about The Amazing Spider-Man 2?
Felicity Jones: Spider-Man is completely different from anything I’ve experienced before, and a real departure from what I’ve done before, which I’ve really enjoyed doing; something on a completely different scale, and with it being a cartoon, it was really good fun actually. It was really fascinating to see how a film is made in that way, which is so foreign to what I’ve done before.
Have you wrapped on it now?Felicity Jones: Yeah.
Can you tell us who you’re playing?Felicity Jones: It’s all quite shrouded in secrecy, but I’m the Goblin’s girlfriend – I’m in a relationship with him, and his accomplice. I’m on the dark side.
What’s your character’s name, or can’t you say?Felicity Jones: I can’t say actually. It’s all in the vaults of Marvel. I love all that secrecy, I think it’s great. It builds anticipation, there’s too much transparency in everything these days.

I was very anti-ASM before (and even immediatly after) the movie came out but I’ve come around…but if they do that then…no….just no
Get ready for a Spider-Man movie series where Menace appears before the Green Goblin.
I don’t get the cartoon thing? Does she think Spider-Man is a cartoon? Is she saying cartoon in stead of comic book in like ‘cartooning’ sense of the word? Is TASM 2 actually going to be a cartoon.
As for her being a Goblin girlfriend, if she’s Harry’s girlfriend is she Mary Jane? I doubt it but she could be Black Cat and Harry’s girlfriend (what a headspinner that would be). Theoretically she could be Norman’s grlfriend instead of Harry’s since Norman’s a creep. Or she could be Harry’s girlfriend who Norman bangs because he does that…..my god….she is playing Lily Hollister
@#5 Or Lily Hollister
Liz Allen welcome to the movie universe.
“… and with it being a cartoon …”
You know, I don’t expect every actor they get for these movies to be as well versed in the characters as we are, or have ever read a comic before in their lives. But you should at least know that Spider-Man is a COMIC-BOOK CHARACTER, not a cartoon. Spidey has been in comics for over 50 years. He’s been a cartoon character for ~18 years. I hate to get picky with math but that’s not even 2/5
I know nothing about her acting ability and maybe she’ll be great in the movie, but hearing her say Spider-Man is “a cartoon” makes me think she doesn’t know anything about the characters and is dismissing it as a cartoon.
I know the movie is a lot of special effects so she could have meant that but there’s a lot of acting required in Spider-Man movie. This is not voicework in an animated movie. That’s like saying Lord of the Rings is just a cartoon.
Just my 2 cents.
I think of Shathra
Well she said it herself – not sure what kind of consistency you’re expecting, what with it being a cartoon and all.
At this point, I think that Sony is basically creating their own story completely divorced from the actual comic. I went into the first one with that mindset and I enjoyed it overall (kept saying to myself – “its not ‘my’ spider-man, but its an interesting story anyway). They really should have called the movies “Ultimate Spider-man” anyway. I have a feeling they were planning on it and changed their mind, hence we have an animated series called Ultimate Spider-man for no apparent reason.
Sounds kind of not-quite-what’s-in-the-comic messed up….
