1. I think he should have made one more post about how this was just a summary. I didn’t get that from his first four posts.

3. I’m always in favour of my own posts being used as examples of the right thing to do. When I finally open “Nick’s House Of Endless Logical Correction”, I’ll look on this as a banner day.

   Let’s make a little comparison…

   Exact same point made by NickMB:” It wasn’t all summary, although spending over 50% on summary is probably a bit much, especially considering the audience of this website where, let’s face it, the issue has been out for a week and we all know what happens in it.”

   Exact same point made by NickMB: “I always find it a bit odd when reviewers basically admit the comic was very well executed, but then announce they’re marking it down because “y’know, they killed off Peter Parker”, as if I as the viewer am meant to understand why that’s a fundamentally bad and irredeemable thing. They killed off Captain America and the Human Torch and those arcs are both looked back on as good, so why is killing the hero an automatic and obvious con? Oh well.”

   So it IS possible to make the exact same statements that you’re making without being blatantly disrespectful. Your days on this site are numbered if you don’t figure out how to be civil. One more infraction and you will be banned.

10. A video review? Why? Because the dude can’t write, but want to have his few seconds of fame? So, we have to endure his mug as he rambles on? No.

    Now, let’s say the “legendary” Ditko designed Spidey’s costume, villains, and the chicks he would bang – so what? It was Lee’s idea, Lee’s words, Lee’s ingenuity, Romita’s art, Romita’s style, Romita’s images that elevated the title, the character, and the franchise.

    You say I’m disrespectful? I’ll tell you what is really disrespectful – the constant onanism regarding Ditko. You know what else is disrespectful? Posting a ridiculous ramble on video and calling it a review!

11. Forgot to mention, the camera was my fault. My niece was trying to help, but she couldn’t get the camera to sit level enough, so I’m looking at the monitor while it’s recording. Trust me, it was a lot better than when I tried myself, I looked like I was about to fall off the side of a building looking down at the camera. So, hence, will improve on the next one.

12. No problem Brad. Like I said, I had a lot of fun and I’ve taken notes, I’ll improve with Superior Spider-Man #1 and I’ll continue to improve from there. Always have to get your feet wet and then start learning what works and what doesn’t.

    Seriously tone it down a bit. It’s the guys first review on the site and you’re being very disrespectful. If you disagree with the review you can do it more politely just see Chris’ comments above mine.

14. Ryan, I thought the review was well-produced, you have a good personality for video, and the opinion section was well done and made interesting point. Like others, I suggest making the summery more brief and dedicate more time to your analysis. Also, it seemed like you were looking somewhere slightly lower than the camera.

    You suggested that Peter was giving Doc Ock a memory and emotional experience that was more than Ock already had access to. I didn’t get that from the comic. It was made pretty clear from issue 699 that Peter had access to the first-hand sensations of Ock’s memories–he could actually feel the pain from the memory of Ock’s dad hitting him, for example–so one would assume Ock had the same. So what exactly was Peter giving Ock that Ock didn’t already have? It wasn’t communicated very well in the comic, in my opinion.

15. Considering how Lee and Ditko went by the Marvel method, the artist creating the storyline with the writers putting text to the pictures, I’d argue Ditko wasn’t just following what Lee assigned. I would agree that Lee, Ditko and Romita all had a hand in defining Spider-Man but since Ditko is responsible for the design of the character, the look of his enemies and a lot of his world, he has a bigger impact than Romita.

16. The way Peter died pays respect to the all too human condition – YES, Peter overcame many obstacles and in the end he’s taken down in this blindside of ways. Isn’t life like this? Is this not drama, tragedy? It is precisely because of his past heroics that this death is honest and true to the human condition. As far as Ditko goes – he was the artist that followed what the creator assigned. He left at the wrong time because of a hissy fit and misguided fanboys are trying to turn him into this tragic genius. Bull! Stan Lee is Spider-Man’s creator. Ditko was the artist. Did Ditko contribute to early success? Sure. But Stan created Spidey and Romita’s art turned him into an icon. Know the facts, pal!

17. Last time I checked Ditko was the man who created Spider-Man. And Peters death may have been tragic but a lot of us expected him to go out in a blaze of glory. For a character who has faced the greatest of odds, from lifting tons of metal to get medicine to his Aunt May, almost giving his life to stop the Phoenix Force, facing the Beyonder and o many other obstacles, for him to be taken down like this seems pathetic almost. And Lockdown has listened to what we’ve said and taken it on board. I’m sure his next review will be more review and less synopsis.

18. All you drones stating “great job” are not doing the site or the reviewer and favors. More than half was summary! That is NOT a review! And then to downgrade it, even after admitting it’s a solid craft, simply because a distaste for Parker death or way he died, is ridiculous and renders the whole thing a farce. It is interesting how Brubaker is coined as awesome and Hickman a genius for killing off heroes and then bringing them back in respective ridiculous yarns. To argue that Peter’s death is ignoble misses the point. Parker gave his life in the most heroic of way: WITHOUT THE WORLD KNOWING! WITHOUT CREDIT! YES! That’s the genius and honesty of Slott’s story. This is truly a tragic death. Not a death with pomp and circumstance as Caps and Johnny’s. I’ve been an Amazing Spider-Man fan since my first comic at the age of six with issue 136! I feel the loss of Parker as a character. But I give Slott ALL THE CREDIT in the world. This is a great narrative, an honest narrative – Peter’s death is heroic in an honest and true sense. Get over yourselves. And, enough with Ditko ~ his departure was the best thing that happened to Spider-Man. Romita sr created the icon we came to know and love! “Nuff SAID!

19. Thanks for the words guys. I’m taking notes on what you guys want to see on the next review. Before I started on here, I was used to doing a quick summary on the comics, movies, ect. So, I’m going to do much less summary and do more in depth on the book.

20. 9- I’d say the way Peter went down was a big con for a lot of people. Johnny and Cap both gave their lives to save others, Johnny for his family, Cap for a random security guard. Peter was beaten by Ock before the arc even began and died a painful death, with no one realising he’s gone. It doesn’t sit right with me anyway. I haven’t actually read 700 though so it may play better in the execution rather than the summary.
