Bleeding Cool ran a piece earlier today speculating that Amazing Spider-Man writer Dan Slott possibly spoiled the identity of the Superior Spider-Man. Slott allegedly wrote a tweet to artist Ryan Stegman that has since been taken down. To see it, click on the link to avoid spoilers.
So it would suggest that Miguel O’Hara aka Spider-Man 2099 is involved in the story. If you look at it for face value, it would seem a pretty big spoiler.
Unless Slott and Editor Steve Wacker are toying with us. Why would Slott tweet to his artist when he could just e-mail him or pick up a phone?
So I ask you, is this legit? Discuss in the comment section.
I want to be interested. I want to look foorward to this, but try as I might, I just can’t move beyond indiofference.
You can only have so many “big events”, only trick and inflame readers so many times in lieu of consistently good storytelling before readers lose interest, and that’s the big problem Marvel has to confront here. This looks to be another “big event”, like so many “shock and awe” arcs we’ve been bombarded with in the past.
Okay, here’s probably some possible evidence that Dan Slott was yanking people’s chain about the supposed reveal in his tweet–or at the very least very much aware that folks are talking about it:

If this is Slott messing with his fans, I think it’s kinda clever.
I don’t see Slott possibly doing that on accident. If anything, I hope that this will put an end to the speculation that Superior Spidey is Miguel, and we can focus on more reasonable conclusions: http://www.comicbookresources.com/images/solicits/marvelcomics/201212/ASM1999699cov.jpg
Y is for the years when I read Spidey
A is for Amazing, which he once was
W is for wasting no money on marvel these days and
N is for not interested in the least!
Thank you, thank you!!
@7 “Douchey” is a bit of a strong word. All he’s doing is teasing about a future story. I don’t think it’s unfair to do whatever he likes to throw us off the scent and preserve a sense of surprise. Or it could be a legitimate mistake.
First Peter and MJ won’t be together for a while, now everybody but Peter gets to kiss on her… why is she in the books again?
“Unless Slott and Editor Steve Wacker are toying with us.”
And seeing as it’s them, I would definitely not rule that out…
I love S-Man 2099, but Miguel works in his own world (you know, the post apocalyptic cyberpunk distopia). Also why would he smooch and grab MJ like that. Why would he even want to be with her? What does Miguel have to do with ASM since 600? Wasn’t a plot points supposed to come together?
If it is Miguel…whbich miguel is it? The one from Exiles, the original, the one from the recent 2099 timestorm? The one from Edge of Time? A completly new Miguel?
I forgot to add a “haha” at the end of my previous comment.
Or… he has predicted our thoughts about him toying with us and Miguel is actually the superior spider-man.
Also further to add to that. Artists and Writers phone, text or FaceTime/Skype no reason they would communicate about work on something like Twitter.
Normally I would agree douchey but…he’s trolling Bleeding Cool which is freakin hilarious.
Considering the situation in its entirety, Miguel is the only acceptable option not named Peter Parker. But methinks Slott is just messing with us, which if true, is slightly douchey of him.
If this is true, then that is frikkin’ awesome! That would actually make me add “Superior Spider-Man” to my pull list.
He is just trolling guys. No way he would reveal something like that. So I gues we con cross Miguel off the list of who superior is.
peter parker is spider-man. nuff said.
…But I WANT Miguel to the Spider-Man! Yes, things will be “dark and weird”, but I loved Miguel in Beenox’s games, so I would be fine with him showing up.
“Dance for me Spider-Monkey’s, dance!!!”
Slott wants his puppets (us) to dance. That’s all this is to me..
