  1. And I don’t think the Cap analogy works because, even to a gay man, that costume does not INVITE sexual attention. I would equate Cap’s costume to say, Rogue’s costume. I don’t think either person dressed like that would be inviting attention from the opposite sex. Now, if the fit guy dressed as Namor, I think it would be the same as Black Cat here, and I would have the same opinion of that.

  2. I think I agree with Enigma on this one. Anyone that thinks he is “blaming the victim” here I think is mistaken. I also think Andrew C’s BMW analogy is very good. A few points I think we should all agree on.
    1. Men are controlled by their members
    2. When a female, especially an attractive one, dresses especially provocatively, it actively invites male attention. By “invites” I mean this like a catalyst. It gets the guys’ engines going. I do mean to suggest that the male attention is what the woman wants or seeks.
    3. There is NOTHING WRONG with the woman wanting to dress provocatively.
    3. By dressing up like Black Cat, she invited male sexual attention.
    4. That DOES NOT give males the right to be rude, crass, deucey…. towards her

@45, The BMW in the ghetto analogy fits. You’ve brought up all the good things about Comic Cons, but you’ve ignored the fact they they are filled primarily with guys, and oh by the way, the guys are slightly more likely to be unclassy than classy. That’s an atmosphere you expect people not to be on their best behaviors, and that’s why it might not be the best place to bring a BMW…or an attractive woman dressed provocatively. The guys were still jerks here.

  3. The word ‘victim’ is being thrown around here, but after reading the woman’s blog it sounds more like she feels ticked off than victimized. These guys acted without any dignity. What they did was the equivalent of running up to an overweight person and yelling “Hey! You’re fat!”

  4. One this is very clear: if the fanboys who interviewed her act that way around women, they will all continue to be virgins.

  5. @freaky: I gotta disagree with you. I get the issue that dressing up like something your not can be confusing for guys… Like if you dress like a hooker but aren’t one… But when you’re at a comic-con stuffed with cosplayers isn’t the whole idea to pretend to be someone you’re not. So wouldn’t it be reasonable to assume that the smoking hot young girl in the black cat outfit may in fact not be entirely comfortable with spanking random people who blindside her with perverted requests during an interview. The issue may be grey, but in this case I think Mandy is 100% in the right.
