  1. I personally loved most of the original Clone saga. It shook things up and made a middle-aged man run to the comic shop every week for the next chapter. Now I’m even older and have been looking forward to Ben Reilly’s TRUE return, not just through flashbacks. I think if he was a clone created from Ben Reilly’s DNA as opposed to Peter Parker’s, the stories could be quite interesting, like, what if Ben remember’s Peter and Mary jane being married and expecting a child? That would be a story to tell, Dan Slott are you listening? Spider-Island is still starting, we’ll see how it goes. But looking forward to some more “shake-up” i the “spider-verse”.

  2. I can only pray that this time, it’s for real. There’s still lots to be done with the character. But I think it’s best if he’s actually revived, rather than retconning his death.

  3. The only thing I can think of when I see that image is George Berryman leaving it on Zach’s doorstep, then ringing the bell and running.

  4. I wish they would find a GOOd way to bring ben back, make him horrified at Peter deal with the devil, pair him with MJ and make an ongoing out of it. A man can dream…

  5. I am with Alex…I am not a fan of characters returning from the dead when it is shown as that HUGE event, and it makes it worse when they have been dead for a long time (e.g. Harry, Norman…). Of course, if you know they are not dead, (like every Kingpin “death”), and expect their return, that is OK in my book.

Ben back? If he is, whoopee…the idea of a clone was stupid when Gerry did it, was worse when he returned..coming back from the dead three times is just asking for trouble.

  6. You know, has anyone brought up the possibility that, if the Scarlet Spider is returning, it will be Kaine adopting the identity instead of Ben Reilly? After all, it’s very likely that he’s going to be cured of his man-spider mutation by the time Spider-Island is finished, just as “you know who” will very likely be cured of being the “Spider-King.”

  7. Amazing Spider-Man #666 is getting a second printing? That’s somewhat surprising given that there are still lots of copies of that issue at all the comic shops in my area.

  8. Nice cover art, but I don’t trust the message of Ben coming back. And it wouldn’t matter anyway in this NuSpidey continuity. If Ben is Ben that is…
Would they dare to reveal NuPeter as Ben and let Ben resurface as the true married-to-MJ Peter? In that case I’m back in.

    Don’t hold your breath, though.

  9. That’ll be cool if they bring him back. Hope they give him his own book or put him in the avengers or sumptin

  10. I refuse to buy a Spider-Book since OMD, and I don’t trust the current regime to properly handle Ben. This screams of being a giant purple-nurple from Marvel.

  11. I think the ‘Return of…’ Spider-man books featuring Rielly were really good. better than the stuff they’ve been putting out for the past couple years. Ben didn’t get a costume change every few months and he’d had some great villians. He was a single Spider-man and on his own. In retrospect, it’s some of the best stuff ever in Spider-man. I read it despite being mad they made him the original. But it was good stuff.

Do I hope they bring him back? NO! They don’t write stories so much anymore. Certainly not serious stories, it’s all about costume changes and Spider-man getting new powers or losing them it seems. Its really hard for an old fan like me to read. Certainly the Worst Comic of All Time is never going to be forgotten. Reilly would bring a new edge to Spider-man without any of that magic mess. But Marvel’s still doing the same thing it’s been doing for the past five years. So…

Bring him back when they get serious about the writing again.

  12. I really don’t want Ben to return. I’m never a fan of people returning from the dead and knowing how Slott told us how Harry and Mysterio (or for the latter didn’t tell us) how they returned, the reason for Ben’s return will be a simple and poor one. I think Ben’s story was told with his death, sacrificing himself for his brother. Maybe Slott will write it well like Kevin has done in Crawl Space but it’s something I won’t be at all fond of.
