In another interview I believe Emma Stone stated she read the ‘Death of the Stacys’ trade. (Hardcover?)
And from the sound of it the actress may not be familiar with the Ultimate versions if they’re going that route with Gwen.

boy shes attractive. I like that shes playing gwen but i would have been fine with her playing anyone. MJ, Betty, Deb whitman etc
My goodness I LOVE Emma Stone. I really wish she was playing MJ, she would have been perfect. Sure she’ll be great nonetheless, but it won’t be the Gwen we grew up with.
