Spider-Man must have one big superhero closet with the amount of alternate costumes he’s been known to wear. In the 1998 “Identity Crisis” story alone, Pete had not one, but four different costumes he cycled through. Now Activision and Gamestop are teaming up to give those costumes the video game treatment. When you preorder the new Edge of Time game through the retail store you can get all of his alter-ego’s attires: Prodigy, Hornet, Richochet and Dusk. I loved all the costume choices we were given in Shattered Dimensions and it’s really cool to see that they’re doing it once again with a whole new set of outfits. Kotaku had the story, but I snagged it from Comics Alliance. Anybody going through Gamestop to get these latest costumes? What has been your favorite secondary outfit in a Spider-Man game so far? (ps, my links to Comics Alliance and Kotaku aren’t working, but I’ll update those so you can get the full scoop as soon as they start working for me.)

Thanks to Brian for posting this. I had a draft going and then the baby woke up and I couldn’t finish it. I loooved the Slingers series back in the day. It’s cool to have these costumes available.
I’m SO disappointed in these. No interest in using them at all, never mind pre-ordering for them. I’d LOVE to see Spider-Ben, Kaine, and Future Spider-Man from ASM 500/Grim Hunt. I’d also have a blast with House of M, New Ultimate Spider-Man, and the Andrew Garfield costume.
@Styleshift #10 – Agreed.. the red and blues are the way to go. It’s fun to dabble with the others every now and then but the classic is too good. I don’t think I’ll use these as much, I’ll definitely get them though cause I’ll preorder from GameStop most likely. I’m sure I’ll have enough games I can trade in by then and get a decent discount off the game.
The exclusive preorders and system specific extras are very upsetting. Never got to play the Jokers levels in Arkham Asylum since I don’t use playstation, and I’m definitely not ordering Arkham City through Wal-Mart, so I won’t be able to play as Robin when that game comes out.
Nice!!
Normally I love me some red and blues but I really dug the symbiote costume back in the PS1 days.
I really liked how they allowed you to use different powers based on the costume Spidey was wearing.
(Symbiote = Infinite Webbing, Spider-man Unlimited = Invisibility)
I love the options to wear different suits but just like Peter Parker I always wind up back in the original red and blues when I play! 🙂

What he’s basically saying folks is that since the Wii isn’t a HD system, they give it the shaft…. CONSTANTLY.
And Activision/Gamestop can take their pre-order bonuses, stick them up their a****, sit and spin. I am sick to DEATH of pre-order bonuses.
Awesome. Here’s looking forward to spider-ben, and the costume in spider-man #58 that peter threw together. Maybe kaine?
dang it, why they have to make these games so hard on old geezers like me. I wish I had the patients that my wife does with video games. I bought Shattered Dimension a few months back for $15 bucks, but didn’t get past the training part. Every Spidey game that has ever came out, i’ve had to have my wife or our son play thru it so I can see what happens. Son is in the Air Force now, and my wife hasn’t been in the mood to start a console game recently (she plays World of Warcraft, EVE, Rift, and a few others on the PC.
I’m more of a ‘God Mode’ gamer. If I die more than twice, I’m not replaying the same damn level. But boy I can play the heck out of tetris and bejeweled…and slingo!!!
I’ll still buy this game when it’s down to about $15 bucks somewhere.
I expect to find them DLC’s soon
The 90s ten year old in me just went nuts.
The reason the Wii gets the short end of the stick is because the Wii version is much different from the 360 and PS3 version because it is not as powerful as the other two. Alot of video game companys have enough trouble making a version different then the ‘main’ version of the game(The one that will be on 360 and PS3.), and then another version for the Wii. So that’s why when it comes to preorder bonuses, most companys just make them for the main version.
Interesting, did not know they didn’t have those costumes for the Wii, but that system does get the short end of the stick the majority of the time.
In case anybody wants the links (my computer at work is being a pain) so here they are: http://www.comicsalliance.com/2011/07/13/spider-man-edge-of-time-and-x-men-destiny-get-exclusive-gamest/

They also talk about the preorder bonus costumes for X-Men Destiny if there are any X-Men fans out there
I just thought I’d mention that if you pre-order through Gamestop – confirm with them that the costumes are bonuses for your specific system. I pre-ordered Shattered Dimensions assuming that the Captain Universe costumes came with the Wii system – only to find out after much aggravation that the bonus costumes were only available on the X-Box (and maybe Playstation 3, I’m not sure) – and NOT the Wii (which my son has). It is likely that this was explicitly stated somewhere and I missed it – but don’t assume that the costumes will be available on your system.
I’m going to guess that Prodigy and Hornet will be alternates for Spidey 2099 while Ricochet and Dusk will be for Amazing Spidey.
I’ve always had a liking to these costumes, especially Ricochet as the half Spidey/ half Richochet cover from ASM #435 was the very first comic cover I ever saw when I was a kid.
