  1. hehe, side note..

that is an Austrian comic shop in the center of Vienna.
sadly they don’t sell original comics.. only translated ones into german.. that’s why i go to a different one.
but i walk past this store almost daily. pigeons usually sit on spidey’s head and hand, leaving some comic shop visitors special presents 😉
was meaning to post some pictures once one the MB, but never found time..

saw the picture and had to share this little “fun fact” 🙂

  2. “When a comic is almost 4 bucks, it’s hard to drum up sales.”

Tell that to the Avengers and Fear itself.

“We need a big spidey icon to ketch attention.”

Really? We need a comic book character who lost half its readership thanks to a bad editorial mandate to save comic book stores? Whose sales are not improving? Come on, who are you trying to Kidd here? This is a sad attempt by Marvel to jack up the book’s sagging sales.

  3. When a comic is almost 4 bucks, it’s hard to drum up sales. I mean, I remember when they were 1.99! That was like what the early 90s? Meh. We need a big spidey icon to ketch attention. Some comic stores don’t have that. 666 wow, will mephisto be in it? lol

  4. The reason Marvel is doing this is to make the shops order more of the book. Sales have not been so kind to Spiderman and they are trying there best to masked it by doing this promotion. The new Godzilla spiked up the charts because of this, so this is all a shell game from Marvel once again to cover up the fact that they want to masked the sinking sales of this book.

  5. That sounds really cool for everyone involved (Marvel/fans/store owners).

But I kinda think they stole this idea for the new godzilla comic from IDW. They made they’re #1 issue have godzillas foot squishing a ton of different comic stores. It’s really cool, but then the rest of the comic stinks. Spidey doing this is far, far cooler.
