Where there’s smoke, there’s also fire. It hasn’t been confirmed but many different online sources are claiming actor Jamie Bell has been cast as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man. Bell is a 24 years old British actor that has been in movies like “Tintin,” “King Kong” and “Jumper.” He does have a Spidey connection already. He was in a Green Day video with Evan Rachel Wood who was cast as Mary Jane in the Spider-Man musical. We all know that fell through, but this is a great video to see him with someone that looks like MJ.

Not crazy about his voice but if he can fake an American accent to something that doesn’t sound like he’s mumbling than it’s cool with me if they cast him.

It seems strange to me but, I have been a life long fan of Spider-Man. I have followed him through thick and thin. I gotta say though, I’m not really that amped for a new movie. Maybe it’s just the Sony thing, not sure if they really get the character or just see $. I think Toby did a good job with what he had, but I don’t really think it was Spidey. I think he was a better Peter Parker then a Spidey. The rest of the cast was kinda bland other then Simmons, Molina, and Dafoe. Actually this new kid can be the weakest link in the cast and the new movie can still be great. Look at the new Bat films. I could care less for Bale but his supporting cast really made the films work. Or maybe I’m just weird and my opinion stinks. Good luck new Parker!

Never heard of him before, but based on his picture, he looks like a good visual fit for Peter Parker.
I personally think that no actor will be good enough to play Spidey.
I think that maybe they feel that a teenager may not exactly have the maturity to carry a huge, financially backed film so getting a young twenty something may feel more comfortable for Sony. Seems like a pretty good pick.
Well at least we know he can dance! so when the musical numbers come up he can handle himself

I actually don´t have a problem with this. I like Jamie Bell, I think he´s a good actor. He could probably pull it off. And concerning the whole age part: I think they didn´t pick a super young actor cause they would be afraid it would be too much of a contrast from the earlier movies. But I don´t really have a problem with it. I think he looks younger than he is anyway. And besides, he will spend a great deal of the movie wearing a mask, so in the end I don´t think that many will be bothered by it.
The thing i dont get is if they want this movie to have Peter back in high school, why they dont cast a ttenager in the first place :S Since if this is going to spawn sequals (it probably will) then this will lead to the same problem Toby had and that he looked too old for the part by number 3
