Also by playing as the Green Goblin there are certain levels that cannot be completed because you need WEBS. Another thing is that they only give you a certain amount of time in levels to do crazy tasks that seem impossible. Another thing is that the controls are almost broken, to perform combos you need to At one point I felt like breaking my controller, and tossing it into my TV.
then what the game gives to you. Die hard fans will enjoy this game, but most likely go back and play the PS1 classic.
I gotta disagree with YOU, Gerard… from the stilted animation, to the “meh” combat, this was not a favorite to me.
I’ve never played this on a console, actually. I played the PC version, and I never had a problem with the controls because I used a gamepad. It was a good port from what I could tell.
Ah, that’s probably the problem Bdog, since the game was made for consoles and must not have been well-ported to the PC. And with the Goblin mode, weren’t your bombs the equivalent of webs for hitting switches and stuff? I think what irked me about this game was Spider-Man’s character model.. the eyes were waay too reflective and his hands/feet were TINY! (It was the first feature game to have Spidey actually do the signature “web” motion with his hands though).
Like what you said too, the extras are some of the best things in this game! Josh Keaton as Harry! Pinhead bowling FTW! And my personal favorite, the tutorial being narrated by Bruce Campbell!
This was a fun game for its time, but get vastly overshadowed by its sequel. I always had trouble playing the Oscorp level without just skipping it. 😛 But I do remember that as far as I got in Goblin mode, I could do everything that I needed to.
I guess for me the controls were bad because I was playing on PC i have no idea where my Gamecube version of this is…
I disagree as well…
I never had any problems completing the Green Goblin missions.
They CAN be done.
The controls were also solid enough for BOTH of my nephews to master the game at 5 years old. (My 2nd nephew tried this one out just last year!)
Nicely written review but I think you should be a bit more thorough when you play these games.
It sounds like your writing this based on memory!
Yeah, I think the web control is better than the PS2 game’s. The former is better for the comics book references, but this one’s still solid IMO.
I’ve gotta disagree with you on this one, Brandon. I think this game is GREAT. It was tough, especially the stealth, but it wasn’t impossible. The Green Goblin stuff was also a lot of fun.
