Yeah, I like the issue well enough – it is, after all, classic Lee/Ditko goodness – but the alien bit just always seemed ill-fitting to me. Suffice to say, I’m a fan of Stern’s retcon.
I remember reading this for the first time and wondering how any of this made any sense. Y’see, I knew of the Tinkerer, but didn’t know of the alien retcon by Roger Stern years later. That reminds me, I gotta read that sometime.
