Spidey shouldn’t have to save anyone at the end anyways…
I really think that downplays the value of the villain. It’s like they need a handicap to be a formidable foe. =(
They really are just adding in those scenes to give Dunst more screen time…
Just like Spidey’s mask always getting ripped or removed. More screen time for Tobey.
I found all 3 movies to be OK and never that great or that bad.
I have no problem with Kirsten, and feel she should return with with the rest of the cast.
Now, in this one, let’s hope the writers give her lines MJ would say, and PLEASE DO NOT be the one Spidey has to save at the end! That is way overdone.
Not Dunst’s biggest fan. At least not as soon as she stopped eating food, sometime after Spider-Man 2… Still it’s good that she’s returning. I’m not a fan of when they start changing actors in movies. LOL see the X-Men films. 😛
Yeah, Jason, in the movie he can be the villain too! (jk I actually like Q’ie.)
Maybe the bad guy will be Joe Q?
Personally, I’m delighted that Kirsten is coming back. I am not a fan of replacing actors in movie sequels, even when it’s warranted ( like when the actor dies). Let’s all just hope that she does not become a hostage in this one…
This is very disappointing…..ugh
Isn’t it kinda ironic though that the comics and movie series is doing the opposite of what fans want to be done with Mj?
Comic: “Bring her back! she should be married to Peter!”
Movie: “KILL THE HOE OFF!”
I blame this on the fact that they aren’t pushing these characters forward. They keep relying on the same ol “will they get together” plot. and the damsel in distress thing is just SICKENING.
I’m also sick of the mask being ripped off for more Tobey screen time….all we need is a TOUGH baddie to REALLY raise the stakes. that way they don’t have to kill themselves at the end too.
the villain doesn’t even need to have an “emotional” connection to Peter. The original superman film and dark knight prove this theory in such solid ways.
Not only that but Mj is very poorly characterized. I really hope they either bring back Bryce Dallas Howard (she was great and i really felt sorry for her in SM3) or the black cat and replace Mj….It’s really a shame too.
Mj is easily my fav superhero love interest.
I trust Mr. Raimi. I do believe that Raimi did make two great spidey movies : “Spider-Man” & “Spider-man 2”
(which is the best superhero movie of all time even better than Dark Knight which was a terrific thriller or crime movie
but not a great superhero movie) and his third endeavor was not that bad and still much better than a lot of
superhero flicks out there (namely, “Superman Returns”)
My anticipation for this film just died a little
DAMMIT!
>but he captures the Lee 60s man on the street we<
Some of us don’t want the 60s man-on-the-street, as it dates the characters. MY Spider-Man was the Stern/DeFalco era and TSSM series is a bit of every era…least of which is the modern sensibilieties.
Kevin, better have no Morb than a butchered one. At least they have (at least a little) respect for the char enough to not kill him 😉
Yeah, I wouldn’t want a new mary jane till the whole series gets some kinda reboot, which I hope isn’t for a long- long time.
She’s really not a bad actress at all in these movies, although i think they could’ve written her better parts.
And Morbius wouldn’t be as cool to put in the movie, although, I want the flick to just start off with Spidey just randomly in the middle of a fight with one of his baddies like a Morbius, a Kraven,
or a Shocker. The movie needs to start off showing what Pete’s up to nowadays, why can’t it start off with showing how busy he is a Spidey?
And they can build up the potential villians to have lined up for a Spidey 6/Sinister 6.
Because she’s a little “stupid…” and so was Spider-man 3

I don’t get all the Dunst hate. Nor the hate for Raimi and Spidey 3. Stylistically , he is not the grounded in reality Chris Nolan, but he captures the Lee 60s man on the street well. I just want to see more Spidey humor, more accurate Spidey Sense, and a final battle where his mask stays on,
but it is sad that Dunst is coming back!
Thank God Almighty Morbius is not the villain. He is such an unoriginal and dull villain whose existence in Spidey’s world is not even justified and runs counter to Spidey’s fairly-grounded-in-reality world.
ugh well prepare for another poorly acted movie
This dated, irrelevant movie series aint getting dime one from me. Raimi doesnt live in the 21st century where Spidey’s concerned
Maybe they can bring in someone else as MJ’s cousin…Mary Jane…pull off a similar stunt Smallville did with Jimmy Olsen where his younger brother is the “real” Jimmy.
I’m not happy that Dunst is reprising her role. She’s always been the weakest link in the cast. Hopefully they kill her off.
this news disappoints in more ways tha one.
I just heard a little bit of Kevin’s soul die…
right now, Kevin cushing is crying a tear with his false hopes struck down. As Fellow morbius fan, I too share this disappointment.
