Venom: Dark Origin #5 Review

VENOM: DARK ORIGIN #5

PLOT:
Eddie Brock is stalking Peter Parker and working out, waiting to make his move. He makes it later that night. Somebody’s impatient. Spider-Man chases after Venom and…

BATTLE ENSUES!!!

They taunt each other before Spider-Man blasts Venom with the Fantastic Four’s sonic ray. Just when Spidey thinks he can take a break, Venom ensnares him with webbing and knocks him out. He wakes up later webbed to the inside of the church bell. More taunting begins before Spidey breaks free and tricks Venom into using too much webbing, which is made out of the symbiote, and knocking himself unconscious. He is then locked into the Baxter Building because he is too far bonded with the symbiote.

LIKES:
-The fight scene was pretty good.
-Doesn’t change the original story.

DISLIKES:
-Seen it before, but better.
-Simple writing that doesn’t do anything.

THOUGHTS:
I have none for this issue. It involves no thought. I don’t particularly enjoy this issue as all of it has been told before and has been told better. The writing is very simple and doesn’t do anything new. It’s déjà vu , just without the thoughts after it. Another way to describe it is making tea. Bear with me. You use a teabag and make a cup of tea. It’s great.

HOWEVER, you use the same teabag and make another cup, but it won’t be as good. It would be diluted. And that describes this story well. The writing is diluted, the effect is diluted, and the whole damn thing is diluted because we’ve seen it before. So after that mediocre metaphor (best thing I could think of folks) I can’t recommend this series.
The funny thing is…I said I had no thoughts about this issue.
