Amazing Spider-Man Family #1 *No Spoilers*

Postby George Berryman » Wed Aug 06, 2008 3:07 pm

Picked this up today, despite the BND taint. J.M. DeMatteis & Tom DeFalco?! Married Spidey-MJ and Baby May? A classic ASM story with... married Spidey? Yeah it's worth it despite the smell of a Brandnewverse story.

And true to my word, since I said it here first, I'll be clipping out the BND pages and sending them back to Wacker with a (seriously!) pleasant note. Unfortunately I can't completely remove the BND pages cause one of 'em is stuck to the back of the last 'Mr. & Mrs. Spider-Man' story page. Curses.

This is a three phase operation.

Phase I - Removal

Image

Proof of the following:
    * BND Taint
    * My incredible taste in bedspreads
    * Having to adjust contrast in Photoshop due to lack of available lighting 'cause it's too hot in Texas right now to have the blinds open!

Phase II - The Correspondence

"Dear Steve..."

Image

Phase III - The Transfer

NYC & Marvel Bound!

Image

Operation Complete! Taint removed!

Before someone gets their panties in a twist, this is both a form of protest and a sign of respect for Wacker, who I don't hold anything against for OMD/BND/Brandnewverse. He's just doing the best with the cards he got dealt.

Thanks Manta! Back when I said I would do this I was kind of joking about it. Spideydude talked me into actually doing it a couple a few weeks back.

I have to admit that was very tastefully done.

"I've been reading and enjoying AMAZING SPIDER-MAN ever since the beginning of the Brand New Day storyline. It's great to see Spider-Man really acting like Spider-Man again."

Wow, you actually went through with it! Not only that, but you did it in a respectful manner. Kudos, sir Berryman.

A brave decision George. Well done.

The people claiming it is stale only show the lack of imagination they have, as the character is returned once again to 20 years old...wow, we never seen that before. Keeping the character relevant? Please. Maybe it is time to create new Marvel Heroes, instead of destroying and retelling well-worn old stories.

George, that was very nicely done...

Did you also pick up the King-Size Summer Special? It is being hyped as all new with Mary Jane "when he wasn't Secretly Invading or Branding New Days." Just wondering.

I did pick that up, yes. And it's very enjoyable. I had forgotten that the MiniMarvels stuff was going to be in it and I am a sucker for that.

You know, I didn't pick this up when I was at the LCS. I think I might and do exactly what you just did. I'll try to make my note just as tasteful. Perhaps if enough fans do something of this nature they'll get the idea?

Thanks BD. I'm getting soft in my old age. Fifteen years ago this would've been delivered via a brick through a window. Ahh, to be young.

Clipped, not ripped. I'm not a savage!

And yes I liked it. I also liked the King Size Spidey Summer Special thing.
