This issue is probably my favorite of the bunch, as usual Kevin you seem to get better with each issue. Now where to begin...

1. Black Spider has earned his place in Spidey's rogues gallery in my mind. He is the ultimate foil to Peter Parker, and in most every way his opposite. And he is a twisted character, but you can't help but feel for this guy. Alone, brought up in a world of bloodshed and evil, yet despiite it all he just wants a family, despite justifying all these attrocities to get one. Plus, a good crazy rant is always in order.

2. Characters were all in top form. I mean from Peter, even though he's stuck inside the machine for a bit was still in complete anguish, and the rage at the end of the issue felt like Pete, as well as MJ's growing concern and taking matters into her own hands. Also, I'm really digging Flash/Carlie because you have a nack for making that relationship not feel forced at all, and have a very real feel to it.

3. The answering machine messages/Wolverine. I'm a Wolverine fan so of course I had to enjoy Logan's hilarious message on the machine, as well as MJ hanging up on him before he can finish speaking lol. Really each was well done though and made me laugh.

Lastly, the big one for me: 4. Harry Osborn [smilie=greengoblin.gif] . I am not ashamed to admit I'm an Osborn fan, although I always saw Norman as the evil one, while Harry in my mind always needed redemption. But Kev, you've sold me on this continuation of the route of making Harry top goblin. Harry has now become the son Norman always wanted, and I love it. Killing, or attempting to kill, all the pretenders to the throne, as well as in a way finally throwing it out there that he is a major force to be reckoned with. Plus, the ferocious airborne fight scene was fantastic, at least how I imagined it it was lol.

So..., onto my rating after all that rambling. How does 5 "sparkle blasts" out of 5 sound [smilie=spidey_thumbs.gif] ?

Thanks very much, man! I really needed something like that before heading off to bed, and I think that review is the perfect cap to my night. I really appreciate the extremely kind words, and I'm very glad it didn't disappoint after such a long wait! You made my night, sir! [smilie=spidey_cheers.gif]

Not to toot my own horn here[/lie], but I'd also like to point out that while there are two covers to this issue, Kevin thought he was only getting one...

... we had fun surprising him with that one, didn't we bdog-ums?

Speaking of the covers you and bdog knocked 'em out of the park Enigma. Being the goblin junkie I am though, I'm partial to the variant lol.

Good Job, Mr. Cushing.

What I found especially interesting about this is that the Black Spider is that he seems like a twisted meta-fictional representation of the "aging fanboy." After all, how many Spider-Man fans have complained about how Aunt May should be dead, or that Peter should get another job besides the Bugle, or that he needs to stay married to MJ and have kids in order for the character to grow. Well, here we have Peter's brother actually provide this and--in twisted idea of the whole "legacy hero" concept--offers to replace him, all for the sake of trying to make Peter "grow up." It's a very interesting motivation for a villain which also acts as a commentary on serialized comic book characters in general.

Also, why do I get the feeling there's going to be some really creepy and disturbing implications involved when Harry meets Sarah? After all, you've established that Harry was in love with Gwen all this time, that everyone he's ever been with were nothing more than proxies of her, and now he's going to meet the daughter of the woman he loves who looks EXACTLY like her but is also his half-sister. BTW, loved the moment where he went ballistic over Gabriel saying he never heard of him.

Finally, I liked the scenes with MJ attempting to call Peter's cellphone contacts, especially when she ends up getting hit on by Logan over the phone. Also, cute little romance you've got going for Flash and Carlie, in that there's a whole opposites attract angle going on, what with Flash as "the jock" and Carlie as "the brain."

The wait is finally over and worth, I once again, love the new CS issue. :) Kevin once again showed us how to continue a excellent plot and adding more elements to the mystery, I really liked the way Peter´s and the others plots are developed, Carlie´s MJ´s Sarah´s and Harry´s sub-plots give us a a sense of we are reading lots of stories and without needing OS, mini-series and specials to complement the main plot. That´s why CS is a fantastic and for me the main Spider-Man story and the real one, Kevin since fay one he added the good things of OMD/BND and been using properly, I´m not inflaming his ego but he is fantastic.

The Outgoing messengers were another amazing and funny point of the story, Kevin is master in doing such things, Logan´s is amazing, I LOL , not to mention the other ones, and the mystery person who talked to MJ, I really want to know his identity, I believe it´s Charlies Xavier or Namor. (I´m totally wrong, I know. [smilie=spidey_lol.gif] )

Black Spider´s agenda is very clear, which is great because I had that impression, of his intentions since he appeared and maybe I read Kevin´s mind and figured that out, I don´t know, but I do know I´m enjoying each and every minute of it.

Once again, Thanks Kevin for another entertaining issue and for bringing back the real Spider-Man, I hope the next issue doesn´t take so long to hit the stands but no problem, I´ll wait because CS is my Spider-Man comics and you are my Spider-Man writer, my favorite in fact.

Great job once again Kevin.

As I love this issue, I mean it shows that Simon is one crazy Parker, maybe even more so than that of Kaine.

Also enjoyed the Wolverine Cameo as it was worth the wait and nice idea of giving Flash and Carlie another go at trying to form a relationship.

I can't wait to see whom was the mysterious man that answered MJ call for help, although one other question still bugs me is that why haven't she tried to reach the FF if they had the time to help ?

Stil it was a great issue and nice battle between Harry and Gabriel, but it shows that Gabe's just a coward looking to save his own skin than rather face his doom. Now Sarah's up next and I almost feel sorry for her given the fact that she's trying to move away from it all. :(

Still once again great issue and I can't wait to see more of it. Please do keep up the good work upon this great series and who knows if there's a slight chance that they could get involved with the Secret Invasion event, because I've always thought that maybe Simon's a Skrull in disguise.

That was great Kevin. 5 out of 5 for me. [smilie=spidey_not_kidding.gif]

I was worried about Peter, greatly amused at MJ and her calls and laughed out loud at her conversation with Carlie.

You made me even like Carlie. And I approve of her and Flash as a couple. I would like for Flash to have something good in his life for a change.

Top notch battle of the goblins.

If only this was ASM.

Looking forward to the next one.

Thanks Kevin. [smilie=spidey_cheers.gif]

stillanerd hit the nail on the head about how you use Simon as this commentary that reflects the fans. I'm sure the Pro-BNDers will claim that you're beating them over the head with the whole "He needs to grow up concept!", but I see Simon as more portraying the extreme that I don't think any Spidey fan truly wants.

Flash and Carlie was cute, and I really like the voice messages, especially Cap.

Speaking of which, who is Cap on Earth-CS?
