SDCC: Spider-Man: Crawl Space Video Q&A!

Postby Kevin Cushing » Sun Jul 26, 2009 9:48 pm

Thought Comic Con was over? Not here at the Crawl Space! You (many of you) submitted the questions, and I'm here to answer them. With all the great questions, this turned into a nearly 70 minute (that's feature length!) video Q&A session. It's presented here in its entirety in 7 parts. I apologize for the video quality, but I'm just working with a little laptop integrated webcam here. You get used to it pretty quickly, though. There are lots of teases, insights, and some big announcements inside, so grab a drink, relax, and enjoy! And tell me what you think about all these revelations right here in this thread!

"The ground quakes and the heavens cry tears of blood when Kevin gives out his brand of Crawlspace justice. Babies cry, grown men avert their eyes, women pass out and even the wind gives pause. Kevin’s eyes glow and lightning crackles around them. It’s pretty epic and definitely not for the timid." - Michael Bailey

You're a dead ringer for Seth McFarlane.

Better to have a D.C-esque "delay fron hell" schedule than a Marvel monthly schedule

Sorry I couldnt send any questions myself, I didnt have time, and I didnt know if it was going to be less of a question and more of a suggestion for somewhere down the road...

I forgot Kaine really didnt appear again in the regular titles after "The Return of Kaine"...or that irish supervillain that fell in love with him for that matter. If she could get back into the picture, that'd be nifty attention to detail.

Excellent panel...minus the irritable female voices you hear in the panels for Smallville or Marvel or the bad jokes from panelists. This was much more informative an honest about Spider-Man than any of the "more bad jokes and college humour on the microphone, less announcing important events"£ crap the Marvel panel ever provides these days.

The people claiming it is stale only show the lack of imagination they have, as the character is returned once again to 20 years old...wow, we never seen that before. Keeping the character relevant? Please. Maybe it is time to create new Marvel Heroes, instead of destroying and retelling well-worn old stories.

I'm not sure what's more impressive, that you had the dedication to sit and answer questions from lowly civilians for almost 70 minutes or that it was interesting enough for me to watch it straight through without a break.

"The most important bald man in Spider-Man's history," Kevin Cushing.

I laughed out loud, however my remaining follicles say go to hell. LOL

I'm halway through all of them and you did great. You could use some better lighting but I like it. Now if we all could get the gang together and do a video podcast that would be fun.

Thank you for taking the time to answer all our questions and making the vidoe. I hope that one day, I will be buying your books at my LCS or Bookstore. No one says that you have to write a comic book. Why novelize you other stories and see if you can get it publish through other means...that would have been a good question for this wouldn't it? DAMN IT!

I got through Part 4, before I had to come to work. TWO PLUGS! AWESOME!

EDIT: Saw them all. Dude. I loved LOVED that last comment. LOVED. Thank you.

Thanks so much Kevin.

BTW:ASM 435

Another Point I needed to mention:

The Great Game, with Kaine at least, ended with the 'Return of Kaine' story. But the Great Game, ended in Unlimited 14, before Kaine could get the guys who were running it.

JR Fettingers Marvel:I'd hire Spideydude to be me at conventions, with his cowboy hat, a cigar sticking out of his mouth, and a beer in his hand because he would certainly look a lot "cooler" and "more relatable" to the fanbase that a short, gray haired middle aged man.

Agreed. This was very fun to watch as well as very informative.

I finally did come up with a question, though I'm not sure if its appropriate to ask it now. Ah, if its not it can be deleted. What's your policy on accepting art for Variant covers? Do you have a limit or would you just choose whichever you like?

Thanks for doing this, Kev! Really enjoyed all seven parts! Thanks for your very thoughtful answers, I really respect what you said. Looking forward to picking up where I left off (which I think was # 3), can't wait to read CS annual #1 too. Have a good one!
