Jan Podcast: Ask Sal Buscema A question

Postby BD » Tue Dec 16, 2008 12:37 am

Gang,
Sal Buscema will be our guest in January. We're going to be celebrating his 40th year at Marvel. We're going to take live callers for him. If you'd like to call in add my handle "webheadspidey" on www.skype.com

We're going to record the show on January 12th at 6pm central time. However, if you can't call in and we have enough time I'll read message board questions. Feel free to write them in this thread.

Sal will have a few of his friends on the show. Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz will join in the anniversery celebration. I'm also trying to pull some Marvel strings and get even more folks on to call in and wish him well.

In this thread just ask your questions and don't debate each others post. It makes it hard to read it on the air if I'm searching for questions.

Hi Sal, I´m a big fan of your work since your Avengers and Hulk years but your Spectacular Spider-man will be my favourite forever.

1- How was work with JM De Matteis in such excellent stories, a true classic run? I remember Stan Lee said excellent things about that amazing run, who did you feel about that?

2- How do you feel about Spider-girl cancellation? I loved your collaboration with Ron and I´ll miss it a lot.

3-Do you have any new project that you will draw? I really hope so.

Thanks for your time and keep up the amazing work.

Hi, Sal! I'm I huge fan of your work!

1.) Do you plan on drawing any more ASM covers in the future or doing the art for an entire issue of ASM?

2.) What are your thoughts on the Spidey films?

3.) What are, in your opinion, the most difficult parts of drawing?

Thanks for answering questions, Sal and you, Ron, and Tom did such a great job on Spider-Girl!

Congratulation on 40 wonderful years

1.) Do you have any great con stories you can tell us, do you have any funny ones?

2.) What is or would be your favorite character to draw outside the traditional comics universe, ie. cartoon characters or such.

3.) What do you think is the most important thing to remember while reading Spiderman.

40 wondorous years for a wondorous artist. I always thought your Spidey was the best around the J.M. DeMatteis time on Spectacular.

1) Of all the people you've worked with on any book, who was it and why?

2) Did you ever have a story that you wanted to tell as a WRITER instead of an artist?

3) What is your favourite artist from the current flock?

4) You must have met Stan the Man, and if you have, tells us a funny story about the man.

5) Have you ever been to Scotland before? (David Micheline said it was beautiful.)

AND

6) This is more of a request, but will you be coming over to the Uk any time soon. Please say yes.

Sal, I've loved your work for years. Most recently with your work with Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz on Spider-Girl. With that, I will ask the following two questions:

1. Who is your favorite Avenger or MC2 character to work on?

2. If you were given any book to be on, what would it be and why?

3. What writer/artist have you enjoyed working with in the last 10 years?

What was the last comic book you've read, other than those you've personally worked on, and what did you think about it?

Hi Sal. Just wanted to thank you for all the great work you've given us over the decades.

1) How did you first become interested in illustrating and also, comics in particualr?

2) Was there much of a challenge drawing Spider-Man in the Romita style to changing to a more McFarlane style in Spectacular Spider-Man in the last 80's / early 90's.

3) What for you are the most enjoyable parts about inking Amazing Spider-Girl?

4) What advice would you give to someone like me who can draw alright by copying an image directly but has more difficulty without the direct reference and would like to improve my artistic ability.

Congratulations on celebrating 40 years with Marvel, Sal.
I love your work and enjoy your collabortion with Ron Frenz on Amazing Spider-Girl each month.

1. What is the most important objective when pencilling and/or inking a comic book in terms of presentation?

2. What was your favorite story to illustrate during your lengthy run on The Spectacular Spider-Man?

Hey Sal!

I loved your work on spectacular spidey back in the day...

a few questions for you...

1) How do you feel about the comic book industry nowadays is it better now...or was it better when you were working on spec. spidey?

2) What do you like better inking or drawing? and is inking as hard as it sounds?

3) Do you plan on doing more spidey related things in the near future...like a full issue?

4) also I loved your work on NOVA in the 70's any plans for bucket head in the near future like a variant or something?

and those are all the questions I have...

Thanks

Hi Sal, thanks so much for taking time to talk with us, and for all the hard work over the years you have done for us at Marvel.
Your great and long run on Spectacular is one of my prize possessions in my collection. and I wish you were still at it today (to show some of these new kids how it's done right!!!)
Not really questions, I know, but I just wanted to say thank you for it all, and to thank you for your brother John's work as well (he is missed)

Hi Sal,
Congratulations on 40 years at Marvel!

If you haven't talked about this already. How has technology changed the way you work over the years? And, what did you like better?

Thanks
