The Game itself, I give a 3 out of 5. it's fun, graphics are great, but the repetition kills it. race - race - combat - race... like reading shampoo instructions.

The story, however, is up there with the best of Ultimate Spidey... a 5 out of 5. it ties together the history of Carnage & Venom, plus gives a satisfying resolution to the original Ult. Venom and Carnage arcs...

3 months after the venom fiasco, Spidey finds himself caught in a dire situation: everyone wants the venom suit, and the venom suit wants spider-man. Seems in his haste to get rid of the original venom sample, Parker left some suit molecules in his bloodstream. Venom can sense thes particules, and wants to integrate them into itsself. A secret agency that was responsible for Peter and Eddie's parents' deaths hires Silver Sable and her mercs to capture Venom, to use the suit for their own purposes.

Eventually, Peter gets captured while trying to save Venom and Siver Sable from each other. The agency activates the venom particles within Peter and Carnage is reborn. Venom absorbs the carnage suit from Peter, then casts him aside. The Venom Suit of eddie is now complete. For some reason, it needed Peter's DNA to complete it so it wouldn't need to feast on others (and Eddie) for survival.

With a shiny white spider on its chest, Venom goes after the head of the agency, while Peter is trying to uncover the truth of his parents' deaths.

Afterwards, the end is left open so that Venom can rip its way into Ult Spidey comics any time it wants.

Ultimate Spider-Man Video Game

SPOILER WARNING (I detailed the plot for those who don’t plan on playing it).

Plot: At the start of the game there is a short retelling of the events that took place between issues #33 and #38 of Ultimate Spider-Man (the Venom arc), and then the plot picks up 3 months later. We learn the Peter still has some of the Venom suit in his blood from when he first tried on the suit. We also learn Venom is now hunting Peter in order to absorb the suit that is still in Peter’s blood. Trask Industries (the company who hired Peter and Eddie’s father’s and then stole the venom suit from them) hires Silver Sable to hunt down Venom. After Peters fight with Venom, Silver Sable and her agents take venom away and Peter assumes they are S.H.I.E.L.D. Now Trask hires Electro to test the limits of the venom suit. This leads to a fight over Venom and Electro over who kills Spidey, but Nick Furry shows up to scare off Venom before he gets to Spidey. We are now introduces to Ultimate Beetle who we see steal a DNA sample of Sandman and escapes Spidey by going into the Latvarian Embassy. We also learn later he has also taken a sample of Goblin and Venom. On his way home, Spidey is hit with a dart and passes out, and is capture buy Silver Sable, but escapes from her car on the bridge where they fight. After the fight, Venom shows up and takes Sable away, but not before hitting you with another dart. After a chase you fight Venom to protect Sable and after you defeat him, you pass out from the dart. Now at Trask Industries, Peter is strapped to a table and scientists from Trask inject him with a sample of the Venom suit, this causes Peter to turn into a new Carnage. Carnage breaks free but runs into Venom and a fight ensues. Venom is able to defeat Carnage, absorbs him and spits out Peter. Now Venom is complete, Eddie has full control of the suit and also has the classic white spider symbol on his chest. Spidey finds his way to Trask’s office and see the files that where pulled out on his Dad. But Trask takes the files as Venom shows up and runs to the roof where he tries to fly away on a helicopter. Spider and Venom fight on the roof as Venom tries to Kill Trask. Spidey knocks out Venom and saves Trask. S.H.I.E.L.D shows to clean things up as Peter reads the files on his Father and learns more of the death of his parents. We see photos of the plane crash with a Venom in them. We then see Eddie kill Trask in prison.

Likes: The Story is the main attraction in this game. It is played out great with the style they use to make this game a moving comic book. It has to be seen to be apresheated. The cell shaded look is just what is needed to bring this comic alive. Once you learn to fully use the controls, webslinging in this game is fun and addicting, I enjoyed hours of just zipping though the city. Venom is a fun change in gameplay from Spider-Man. Being the bad guy is great and jumping around the city eating people and throw cars around is just fun. Can unlock different costumes in the game.

Dislakes: Even though the story was great, it was just to short. You can complete the game in about 6-8 hours. And some of the fights justed seemed like filler that had nothing to do with the story. The city was about half the size of N.Y. in the Spider-Man 2 game, it whould have been fun to see more of the it. The random city events get to repedative, and show up too far in between. Sometimes I would swing for 5-10 minutes without doing anything. Whould have been better to be able to shoot webs from both arms for more control.

Favorite Quote: Spidey while fighting- “Do you guys know where I can save money on my car insurance”

Rating: 4 out of 5 webs. The story made this game great, but the length and lack of a diverse city events keep it from being perfect.

the game itself was ok but the whole ultimate spider-man needs to be thrown. While i was playing the game i noticed that almost everyone knew spideys secret from silver sable to mj to the doctors that take his blood i mean to me its bull now i'm sorry to say this but the ultimates no matter what comic is like reading crib notes instead of studying for the final test. It takes a real spidey fan years to learn every location, every hero and villian he ever fought and the ultimates just shorten everything into 28 pages all in all i have to give it a 3 out of 5

Ultimate Spider-Man is addictive. I prefer Spider-Man 2 on the accounts that even though the controls are a bit more complex, the moves (wall running, stunts, etc.) are more complex that way. I like the combat tours in Ultimate Spidey, though. I also like how they brought back alternate costumes and the extras are really cool. The story is nice, too. Sometimes I do have a bit of a glitch on which direction I want to go while wall-crawling, though.

Overall, this game gets a 4/5 from me. Exacting revenge on the balloon kid from Spidey 2 saved it for me. :P
