Spidey: Friend or Foe reviews? Anybody?

Postby Javi Trujillo » Thu Oct 11, 2007 3:23 pm

Well, I'm about 15 hours into Marvel Ultimate Alliance so I didn't feel the need to rush out and buy the new Spidey game yet. But has anyone else? What did you think?

Anybody?????

LOL, sounds like they liked it.

Reviews seem to be mixed, from medium to barel-scraping low. I guess since its geared for kids, its not meant for everyone. I personally haven't played it.

I bought this for my son today (or yesterday, I suppose considering it's after midnight as I'm writing this) as a reward for being good during a particularly unpleasant medical test.

He's beaten it already. And he is 6 years old.

And although he's MY BOY, has his old man's great looks and way with women, and is a decent gamer for his age, he's not a child prodigy.

I would seriously suggest anyone remotely interested in this to rent it first...and then you know what you're getting.

It's very repetitive. The story is meh, and the ending after you beat the game is very ho-hum. While this is definitely geared toward kids (somehow, I don't think kids as young as him - the box says 10 and up), that's no excuse for what essentially seems like a phoned in exercise on the developers' part.

JR,
That's crazy that he beat the game so quick. I really wish they would have done an Ultimate Spider-Man sequel or a regular MU Spidey game.

I downloaded the demo. It's pretty bare-bones and I'm not surprised that a six-year-old could beat it in a day because it's impossible to lose. There's absolutely no reason to play this in a world where MUA also exists. There's nothing Friend or Foe has that MUA doesn't do better.

MadGobby,

Wow.

Soooo glad I didn't plop down the 40 bucks for this (sorry you did). Thanks for your review. I like to mention that my 3 year old son beat the Ultimate Shocker the first time I encountered him in USM, but that doesn't compare to an ENTIRE game in one day.

I hope your son is doing well.

I remember it aas the game for the PS1 and while the graphics are gameplay are now dated by today's standards, I still have and love that game.

Oh, the unlockables!

Oh well I like the game. Experimenting with different sidekicks is cool and some moves you can pull off as Spidey are great.

It's $29.99 in Target I think. I'm tempted to pick it up for our new WII. [smilie=spidey_not_kidding.gif]
