I'm not sure "Does it contradict a Marvel interview quote from years and years ago?" is the most constructive first question to ask of a new project. "Do I like the premise?" and/or "Do I like the creators?" seem better.

Newsarama wrote an article about this.

Granted, we get some hypocritical BS in the classic Quesada style.

I think it's probably notable that they've waited until the Ultimate incarnation of the character was an actual person character before going for the crossover, as it hopefully opens up a bit more story material than having two Peters meet and go "Oh look. Another me. Hmm." Also, this is still very early in Miles's career, so imagine he'd be a bit more freaked out by alternate universes and the sudden appearance of an older version of someone he thought was dead.

I'm pretty sure it was Bendis. Legit criticism, maybe not but you have to admit it is funny though.

I honestly thought it would be Ultimate Peter coming back. At least they surprised me...

This. I'd rather judge the story by it's own merit rather than pull up quotes from half a decade ago to make myself sound cynical and "clever."

I agree. Right now all it looks like is a one-time stunt event. Let's wait and see, I'll give you the anger if this turns out to be Marvel doing the Silver Age through Crisis DC thing of Multiple Earths characters popping up with some regularity in main universe character's books.

Could be interesting. Do we know which universe they will be in? I wonder how they will get there...

A press release said that Peter is thrust into the Ultimate Universe. I'm glad it's that way, I'm interested to see him react to Ultimate Peter's death.

I like this take as well, rather than somehow Miles ends up in the 616. Unless that is part of the story as well. But "our" Peter doing the traveling is a better way for story telling purposes.

I distinctly remember a hell of a great football coach, The Tuna, Bill Parcells, responding to a question about him backpedaling in a situation "I reserve the right to change my mind!"

And you also have to remember that DC just relaunched their entire line of comics and have basically been dominating Marvel ever since. Marvel needs to amp things up in some respect and I'm guessing this is part of it. Plus Sara Pichelli is going to be doing the artwork for the mini and I'm looking forward to how she draws regular universe Peter. Her artwork is SOOOO freakin' beautiful. She alone is worth the price of admission to this.

And as someone else mentioned it'll be interesting to see Miles' reaction to seeing this other Spider-Man who is an alternate reality version of the guy he's taken the mantle from. My only concern is that Bendis is hit and miss when writing regular universe Peter Parker and I'm hoping he really brings it.

Plus it wouldn't be the Spider-Man Crawlspace if people didn't hate on something Spider-Man related. Things were REALLY quiet there for a while. :P

Maybe, maybe not...I could see a story where Miles goes through a true trial by fire and ends up in the 616 world that's, ultimately (heheh), even crazier than his own world.

I'm totally down for this and really excited by the premise and the idea that (hopefully) this is just an anniversary type of story that's not canon or trying to bring Miles into 616 (I wouldn't mind Miles in 616, but I'd rather him stay in Ultimateverse) or anything like that. Should be pretty good.
