Spidey's greatest friendship.

Who do you guys think it is? By that I mean "superhero friend"

Off the top of my head I'd pick Daredveil, but there's also Nova and even Black Cat. Recently Wolverine as well.

Probably Johnny Storm or Daredevil.

The obvious joke, of course, is

However, my honest answer is Johnny Storm.
Image

Their interplay between the two was great, always cracking jokes, even while kicking bad-guy ass.

And the pranks between the two were unforgettable.
Image
Image

Heck, even when they fought each other, they STILL kept with the jokes!

But one of my favorite moments came from issue 3 of the Spider-Man/Human Torch mini-series (by our "buddy", Dan Slott).
It was the scene when Spidey and the Torch were working on the Spider-Mobile, and had a serious moment. (Can't find a scan, but here's the dialogue.)

Torch (talking about Crystal): "...It was all the pollution. Her system couldn't take it. So now she's half a world away in the Great Refuge. The love of my life, and I'll probably never see her again."
Spidey: "Yeah, but you could, if you really wanted to. You could chuck all of this, and go live in her world. You could be with her, Johnny. Where my girl's gone?
I...I can't follow."

Torch: "Ha! Yeah? Where's that? The planet of arachnohobes?"
Spidey: "No...She's dead."

After a brief talk, Spidey asked Johnny how he can keep going on.

Torch: "I don't know, pal. I don't. I wish I could help, but..."
Spidey: "Hey. You are helping. A LOT. See, when this mask comes off...I can't tell any of my normal friends about this stuff.
But you? Well...you're the only super-friend I've got. If that's okay?"

Torch: "Well...Yeah. Sure! We can talk like this whenever, y'know? You're always welcome here."

That was a powerful scene because it demonstrated that, despite all the pranks and grandstanding, the two truly are the best of friends.
And, as two super-powered guys of about the same age, they can sort of understand what each other are going through. Great stuff. [smilie=spidey_thumbs.gif]

"Whether Aunt May dies or not isn't the question. If she dies, does it mean anything beyond a brief sales spike because collectors/speculators think they'll be able to make a profit selling the book later? That is the question. Back when, Stan and company won our hearts and minds. I cared about Spider-Man and the other Marvel characters as though they were friends. I cared every time Aunt May got sick. That's what good creative work does."

It's probably Johnny, but I prefer the Daredevil-Spidey dynamic. Seeing the two heroes who have been through every level of hell interact just gets me. The last chapter of Guardian Devil is a good example. The banter between Spidey and the "new old" Daredevil was the only bright spot of that freaking crossover recently.

I think Spidey's best friend was Peter David. He always treated him well.

I wish the Spider-Man's friendship could be extended to the following:

1. Psylocke
2. Jessica Drew(Spider-Woman)
3. She-Hulk
4. Ms. Marvel

There is so little development among those women regarding a mutual friendship. [smilie=spidey_caught.gif]

The Human Torch would be my choice, with Daredevil a close second. I have liked his more recent friendship with Luke Cage though. I think that more could be done with it too, potentially in Avenging Spider-Man.

I'd probably go with Daredevil. I've always loved their dynamic and felt like they have more in common than Spidey and the Torch (except for their age).

Yay! Bag-Man! Anyway, Johnny Storm is Spidey's greatest friendship, no contest. Stan Lee, waaaay back in the 60s played up the Torch/Spidey dynamic in the beginning (Johnny showed up so much in the first 21 issues of Amazing that he was basically a supporting cast member) and other writers just rolled with it. There is also a teamup in one of the first 8 issues of Untold Tales that I really liked where they went up against the Wizard. I recommend reading it.

Daredevil always has been in my opinion spidey's main superhero buddy.
