May 2012 Solicitations

Postby Phantom Roxas » Fri Feb 17, 2012 12:07 pm

No synopses so far, but among the usual fare you would expect, we've got a novelization of Civil War, .1 issues for Incredible Hulk and Fantastic Four, and a higher price point for X-Factor.

I'd pay $3.99 for X-Factor. The quality warrants it.

Past few solicits for Ends of the Earth sound kinda cool, so while these solicits are basically saying, "Yep, it's still going," I'm still interested.

What I'm REALLY looking forward to in that May solicit is Avenging Spidey. The Immonens doing Spidey and She-Hulk? Fucking SOLD.

Parallel Lives is being reprinted in May as well and I can't believe it. Not only are the people at Marvel acknowledging that this story exists, but they're also going out of their way to mention the Spider-marriage in the solicitations.

"He’s Peter Parker: a shy, introverted teen whose life changed forever when a radioactive spider bit him. • She’s Mary Jane Watson: product of a broken home, concealing her pain with an outgoing party-girl persona. • They meet, fall in love and get married. This is their story. • The classic 1989 graphic novel returns!"

On the Venom cover I recognize Crime Master, Jack O' Lantern, Toxin, Death Adder, and Human Fly. Who is the other guy?

So this Ends of the Earth thing is going to be having it's own series? On top of an annual? And Marvel probably wonders WHY DC is beating them? Why AQUAMAN is outselling Spider-Man! Marvel, open your eyes. You are flooding the market with double shipped issues, .1's, and events that DON'T NEED THEIR OWN SERIES!

I really want to read Marvel books but they just keep pushing me to NOT want to read them each and every month. DC has been keeping most of their issues at 2.99 and no double shipping. Image has even kept many of their titles at 2.99! You have GOT to cut a break to your readers at some point if you want to get the sales back.

I assumed that was a one-shot.

Most of Marvel's 'gimmicks' are things I kind of like. Variants are cool if you don't like the original cover and are nice to look at. Polybags don't serve a real purpose but I think they're fun. .1 issues... They're the stupidest thing on the planet. There is zero point for them. The worst was when Venom had that 13.1- 13.5 crap going on. That was ridiculously dumb and I still can't figure out a reason for them doing that.

Yeah, I think it's a one-shot. And it appears to be the only Ends Of The Earth tie-in outside of ASM itself, which is a pretty big reduction from Spider-Island.
Read Hobson & Choi - my comedy-mystery webserial - right now.

Yeah--I'm reading it less like this is supposed to be an event and more that it's just a big story-arc with big ramifications; sorta like how they advertised Uncanny X-Force's "Dark Angel Saga."

In Venom we recently saw the Toxin symbiote in the possession of Blackheart, who said it was worth the killing it took to get. The status of toxin's host is unknown. He might have been killed by Blackheart off panel. The toxin symbiote was then captured by Jack o Lantern, who was going to deliver it to the crime-master. I am guessing that Toxin will soon show up with a new host chosen by Crime-Master.
