How Smart Is Thor?

I take it that he's pretty reasonably ingelligent when it comes to Asgardian matters, but he's kind-of the Head Quarterback--the guy who can make quickly assess situations and go to the right place or do the right thing at the right time. He's probably okay with human tech, but isn't too interested in it.

He is a little bit of a dummy in the Spider-Man strip...but then everyone on that strip is a bit of a dummy.

What does Sif look like in the current art style? I'm starting to believe that either Sif and MJ really do look remarkably similar, or Thor is just that much of a fool for the sake of this story arc to work.

He's actually quite intelligent, despite current strip and comic books. He reatins the knowledge he had as a Don Blake, and absolutely brilliant surgeon, and more than once he's outsmarted Loki. He outsmarted Loki on a regular basis in the Simonsen run. The thing is, Thor is so powerful he usually doesn't need to outsmart his enemy, he can usually just bash him into submission. But when he absolutely has too, he has been shown to be quite capable of outsmarting his foes. This of course assumes we are discussing 616 Thor. Mythological Thor is pretty stupid, and Ultimate Thor is a goddamn hippie.

I've browsed online, and her hair is gold in mythology, so that leaves this plot point up to her having red hair in the comics, which I don't think is the case.

Thor's characterization in Marvel has been of average intelligence, prone to deflecting to Reed, Tony or Doc Strange on determining strategy. I have always seen Thor as a doofus on strategy and does what he does best, brute force during a tactical situation. Afterall, he is the god of Thunder...

Sometimes I think it's hard to depict average intelligence in comics. Everything is so exaggerated -- smart people are super-geniuses, dumb people are dumb as a rock (Rhino). I figured Thor to be right in the middle of the Bell curve, but with three special areas of expertise (warfare, Asgardian rules & regs, and Asgardian magic). But I don't think he is supposed to be on the slow side, or easily fooled. I think Marvel's Hercules fits that bill.

No, Thor has red hair in mythology. Sif originally had raven hair, but Loki cut all of it off as a prank. In order to stay Thor's wrath, Loki had the dwarves make Sif new hair out of gold.

The Spider-Man comic strip takes place in its own continuity. Kraven is alive, Mysterio is a guy named Hadley Harper, and Peter got his powers in college, among other things. It's entirely possible that Sif looks exactly like MJ.

I knew about Kraven (read his last strip apperance in 2008), but not about Mysterio being somebody else...then again, there's been other people under the Mysterio guise in the 616 continuity.

I think the daily strips are following the continuity of the Raimi movies these days...remember the Sandman arc confirmed Spider-Man 3 happened in this timeline?
