Sorry guys, not trying to ruin your good memories! =P

However, I still don't know what an 8-track is, so there.

Good enough.

It's all good, IP. We know you're not trying to...as the youngsters say..."Harsh our buzz".
We're just fondly remembering the games that came out when we were kids...good times.

Also, when I said:
Ah, you kids today...no respect for history.
Just because a game is newer does not guarantee it will be better. Sure, the graphics might have improved a lot, but that doesn't necessarily mean the game will be more fun.

I firmly believe that. But it doesn't mean I don't enjoy new games...Quite the opposite, in fact. I have a PS3, and enjoy it quite a bit. I just mean that a lot of people in today's generation dismiss some truly great games, just because "they're old" or "the graphics suck".

And for the record (no pun intended), I never had a single 8-track...they had already been replaced by cassettes by the time I started listening. I do still have an old record player, though. [smilie=spidey_thumbs.gif]

If she dies, does it mean anything beyond a brief sales spike because collectors/speculators think they'll be able to make a profit selling the book later? That is the question. Back when, Stan and company won our hearts and minds. I cared about Spider-Man and the other Marvel characters as though they were friends. I cared every time Aunt May got sick. That's what good creative work does."

Harsh My Buzz-
(Slang)-When an incident occurs that causes one disappointment after a period of happiness or contentment. Akin to "bursting a bubble."
Also: Harsh(es)(ed)(ing) my buzz
I was really excited about my new play station, but when the power went out it totally harshed my buzz.

I grew up with a lot of antiques in the house so I would often use things as a kid out of curiosity. I am old at heart and I still listen to music from the 70s-90s.

You know what? I made a reference about a typewriter to my 15 year old nephew.
He had no idea what I was talking about...

I'm starting to think they should change the name of this thread from "Vintage Spider-Man Games" to "Gaming For Geezers"! [smilie=spidey_lol.gif] [smilie=spidey_cheers.gif]

Sorry for the delays, gang. I had a major crisis to deal with IRL that ate up most of my time. Expect the next article to be ready sometime next week, and hopefully the rest will soon follow. (I swear, the universe is stacked against me. It does NOT want to see these articles finished. )

Nahh the universe is to busy bitchslaping the spider-man musical to focus on this, Id place the blame squarely on the diabolical BRICK. That things got a vendatta against all things spider-man.

Here's the (already approved!) itinerary for the next couple of months, just because you guys are so nice:

(1) Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage (Genesis)
(2) Spider-Man and Venom: Separation Anxiety (Genesis)
(3) Spider-Man: Return of the Sinister Six (NES)
(4) Spider-Man (Atari 2600)
(5) Spider-Man: Edge of Time (PS3/XBox360)
(6) Gerard's Top Ten Superhero Games

The first two were part of the original pitch for the articles, based on the games I played as a kid. Return of the Sinister Six and Spider-Man on Atari2600 were special requests from Brad.

The slotting of the Edge of Time review depends on (a) how quickly I play the game to a level at which I feel like I can satisfactorily review it, and (b) where I am in progress with the other articles. Once the game is out, that'll be the top priority article (since I want to get the review up while the game is still relatively fresh). Since I'm not IGN, I have to go out and buy the game like everybody else, so the review will probably come a month or so after release, maybe sooner.

Beyond the six items above, I might continue the articles if they're relatively popular. People seem to respond positively to them, so I'll gladly keep going if the audience is still there. The next "phase" would include games like Spider-Man and Captain America in Doctor Doom's Revenge and The Amazing Spider-Man on the Commodore 64, Spider-Man: The Animated Series on the Genesis, and Spider-Man: Web of Fire on the 32X. After that, I would consider covering games like Spider-Man on the Playstation, the movie-licensed games, and beyond, but those would require a level of time commitment that I may not be able to afford. Either way, all of this would be months from now. The six things currently on the itinerary will probably take me three months or more.

(I already reviewed Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, last year. You can read that HERE.)

Looks like a good list, Gerard...Any plans to do the Spider-Man arcade game?

Maybe. I'm trying to keep it good and legal, and I have no access to the arcade game. Then again, I have been known to cross the government on occasion ...

I do like the idea of showing some video in the story. Perhaps from youtube?

I can capture video myself, if need be. The problem is that I don't have the permissions to post video anymore, unless you unshackled that in the Wordpress settings (assuming it's possible).
