Comics you dislike but others love?

Doom was pretty killer in Secret Wars. This actually got me thinking, Dark Reign was a Norman event, Loki was big in Siege, Magneto & family had house of M, Fear Itself is centered around Red Skull, has there ever been a Doom centric event?

...Does Doomwar count?

Anyway, here's a fairly controversial one--League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The idea is great, but nothing in the first trade I read of it really wowed me.

Ultimate 1 and 2 and pretty much everything with the Ultimate Avengers I found nothing redeeming about the characters and I have a massive dislike of Mark Millar.

I'm sure I'm going to get in trouble for this but...I don't like Gail Simone. Its nothing personal against her, but I don't care for her writing. I've tried multiple times to get into Birds of Prey, but I can never get further than an issue in. Something about her prose is just lacking. I respect what she's done for females in the industry, and I honestly do want more female creators working in comics, I just can't get past her writing style.

You do realize that a statment like that pretty much demands those barrels be opened.

I would recommend checking out Secret Six--Gail does a great job at putting together this mercenary team which is both twisted and fucked up, and yet makes you care for them at the same time. The fact that it's being cancelled with the DCnU is the true casualty of the line.

And I'm curious as to why there's beef with Gail now as well. I don't believe she's had the ability to do anything particularly stupid on Twitter lately, where most of her beefs tend to generate.

I think the problem with Deadpool is that ever since that original run on the Character where he been written more and more like the like the Ambush Bug who I hate!

I'd love a proper trade of Gail Simone's run on Deadpool/Agent X. Annoyingly it came out shortly before Marvel started collecting everything, and I haven't read it yet. Aside from that, the only great Deadpool solo run seemed to be the original run by Joe Kelly. (Currently being reprinted in Deadpool Classic TPBs.) Christopher Priest's run after that was decent, but not quite as good.

(Cable & Deadpool also good, obviously.)
