What is your favorite Band/Artist?

Postby Agent Michigan » Sun Jul 24, 2011 12:43 pm

My favorite Band would have to be the Killers, and my favorite artist would have to be Brandon Flowers.
Call me Mich.

Quite a contrast there...

Dream theater, Symphony X, Blind Guardian, Iron Maiden, Kamelot, Helloween,Rush, Redemption, Big elf, Porcupine Tree, Megadeth, Black Label Society, Dio, Pegans Mind, Queensryche, Sonata Artica, Seventh wonder, Queen, kiss, LYNCH MOB, Dokken, Primal Fear, Evergrey, circle II circle...and the list could go on and on.
I listen to alot of music, all of its rock,Heavy metal and Prog.
All the stuff listed are bands I see alot in concert. Some bands like Evergrey who break up on and off are a bit harder to see.
The first 4 are my all time favorites in the order.
Dream theater was the first band I got into and they were the first concert I ever tracked down tickets for like they got my daughter pregnant and I wanted a shotgun marriage.

Richard Shindell. By far my favorite recording artist. If you like well written lyrics and subtle acoustic guitar give him a listen.

Great list butters, I love how you went across decades and genres. And I love your list. Pleaseantly surprised you listed the Jonestown, saw them live a few times. Piper lead me to get the Barrett boxset. You listed many that I would have, but I'll add some.

J.S. Bach, Beethoven, Leadbelly, Robert Johnson, Bob Dylan, Gram Parsons, Phil Spector, Brian Wilson (Pet Sounds and Smile,) Anything by Miles Davis or Charles Mingus, Coltrane, Albert Ayler, Bix Beiderbecke, Jack Nitzsche, Jimi Hendrix, the Kinks, Captain Beefheart, Brian Eno (Here Come The Warm Jets...), Pere Ubu, Big Star, TELEVISION, Suicide (Vega is a beast), Jesus and Mary Chain (Have you heard the Kevin Shields remix of Primal Screams version of Darklands?), Spacemen 3....

I'll add to the list as I think of more. This could go on and on and on.......

I would love to see Jonestowne live. They are so great. Like a modern day Velvet Underground is the best description I can come up with when recommending them to friends.

Syd Barret is brilliant. So much so that I can't listen to most later Pink Floyd without feeling like something is missing

There are some artists on your list that I would have included on mine, but not everyone could make the cut.

Particularly Phil Spector, Brian Wilson, Miles Davis, Coltrane, Bix Bedierbecke, The Kinks, Brian Eno, and The Jesus and Mary Chain.

Great list! [smilie=spidey_cheers.gif]

You into Diana Krall?

I really got an appreciation for jazz and things of the like from watching Woody Allen films
