Iron Patriot's Interview Thread

Postby iron_patriot » Thu Dec 08, 2011 10:04 pm

Like bdog before me, I'm wanting to talk to my fellow Crawlspacers. Rather than take over his thread, I thought it'd be best if I start my own!

So, here's how we're going to do things. You post in this thread if you want to be interviewed, then, I respond with my question/s. This can go on for as long as you want. I can ask you about anything, from Spidey, to sandwiches, to music, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, whatever!

And now, it begins!

And I've got a big one, right off the bat! Cool.(like a bowtie, or a fez)

First off, how has it been going recently?
Next, describe your history with our favorite, soon to be 50 year old Web-Head. How you first came across him, what has made you stick with him for years, etc.
And last, what is your opinion on the current state of comics?

Thanks, and Mabuhay!

You and I have had back and forths like this in the past. I'd be up for another one.
Podcast 215: The episode where Kevin Cushing not only called me a good friend, but agreed with my taste in comics. That there's signature worthy! [smilie=spidey_dude.gif]

Okay, new rule. The above three questions are everyone's first set.

Oh, can I relate. All I have are the worries of a socially awkward teenager with ADHD, living in a country where I can talk to only a quarter of the people I interact with, but I can understand feeling broken.

Okay, for you:

-Are there any type of Spidey stories that you're a sucker for?
-What's your taste in music?
-What are some of your favorite movies?
-What TV shows do you watch?

Q:First off, how has it been going recently?
A:It's Fine, been busy getting ready for the holidays.
Q:Next, describe your history with our favorite, soon to be 50 year old Web-Head. How you first came across him, what has made you stick with him for years, etc.
A: We've covered this one in past conversations, check your old PMs.
Q:And last, what is your opinion on the current state of comics?
A:I think that the creators at both companies have forced what they want instead of listening to the fans, they are also overstaying their welcome, and forcing any new blood to be their puppets.

As for the books, they're hit or miss like always. [smilie=spidey_shrug.gif]

Oh, and if you want to discuss some movie/TV/video game scores, I have a thread for that.

-What's your taste in music?
-Do you prefer your fiction grounded, or fantastic?
-What are some of your favorite Spidey fights, in any medium?
-Do you have any online projects, like a blog, Deviantart, etc.?

Noted.

As for your questions:
I'm well. Finishing up this semester. Lots of changes to my life socially at the moment. (I have a niece and nephew that are being born over the next two weeks, friends and family graduating in their fields, as well as the usual holiday maddness.) Thankful that I'm not in retail like Mike Bailey.

My beginnings of the webhead were well documented. Clone Saga. Etc. Peter (and Ben) were like my brothers. I never had any other siblings (other than my sister, but that was a special case) so he was the closest I had. Plus I'd pretend like I was spider-Man, with my trampoline and ropes hanging from a tree.

Are comics in bad shape? Hell yeah. But do I think they're dying? no. They're a nitche market that has had its leadership in power for too long. Alonzo is an extention of Joe Q. While I'm not advocating the loss of someones job, I think an infusion of new talent into the market will only help it, along with the slowing down of the more burnt tallent (Bendis) I think that this gives guys like Hickman and Yost some time to shine.
