Podcast thread

Postby Scarlet Spider » Thu Sep 29, 2011 9:15 am

This is just a topic where everyone can come in and talk about any other podcast they are a regular listener to.
It can be about anything, sports, comics, anime, sci fi, paranormal etc.
Seeing as how this site has a extensive podcast network I feel its fitting to talk about other topics we enjoy listening about.
To start off Ill list off a very basic set of podcasts I listen to.

1.Gundamn@MAHQ
Now, most people wont be into this podcast because it deals with mecha anime and sci fi.
However if you are a sci fi fan and would like to get into anime or vice verse this is your podcast.
Topics are the extremely popular Japanese franchises Mobile suit Gundam and macross.
Fire fly, Battle Star Gallatica and many more. This podcast has 3 hosts
This is personally my favorite podcast.

2.The Force cast-All the star wars news you need to know
This podcast is a partner with The Force.Net and rebel scum, two very high in regard star wars fan sites.
The podcast has two hosts and tons of guest hosts such as Kyle Newman the director of the film Fanboys, is a reoccurring host on the show. Along with their weekly forcecast the show has con coverage, Clone wars roundtables, a podcast on those who collect busts, statues, toys as well as a podcast on the E.U and other star wars books and comics.

3.The Bugle-AUDIO NEWSPAPER FOR A VISUAL WORLD
No,this is not a legacy of the Daily Bugle Podcast.
This is a political humor podcast following Daily Show correspondent John Oliver and Comedian Andy Zaltzman
Here, the two talk about world events in a funny way.
Essentially if you like the daily show or the Colbert report, you will like this podcast and its only a half hour to boot.

I'll list some more later, but I really want to hear what everyone else listens to besides the crawlspace network.

In many ways the Force-Cast is everything a podcast should be. It is produced very well...timely...organized...large listening base...very good sources and interviews. I'd love to have a podcast that big.

They do get very combative (and sometimes hypocritical) when it comes to the EU. Very much so....they don't let it go. Otherwise a great show...met the guys at CELEBRATION last year...real nice.

Yeah, I saw them at their live podcast at CV.
I agree with you on their view points, alot of times it feels like they only bring the E.U up when something bad happens.
Another thing is, I really dont like Kyle Newman.
He comes off as the "my shit dont smell" type of fan to me.
Its really insulting to hear someone say your not a true fan if you have not liked anything since jedi or if you dont like say 5 out of 6 films etc.
It ticks me off because I love these films save 1,and that dosnt make me less of a fan.

World's Finest Podcast(found@ earth-2.net) They covered the entire DCAU(and Teen Titans, which I count as in continuity) Really funny. The wild connections can annoy me though.(Heath Ledger's Joker was inspired by ONE episode of Justice League where the Joker had a knife to Batman's face. Not everything ties together, guys)

Better in the Dark- I've only listened to the ones that relate to my interests. like DC and Marvel characters on screen, summer blockbusters, and Nightmare on Elm Street, but they are great podcasters. Really entertaining and knowledgeable.

WELL, DUH. Two True Freaks! One of the BEST geek related comic podcasts out there! It's a lot like Dragon*Con; if you like something geek related, they have done a show for you: comics, Star Wars, Star Trek, Harry Potter, whatever!
Mabuhay ang Crawlspace!
Ignore the underscore, just call me Iron Patriot.

Word Balloon- Heard Brad mention it a few times on the Crawl Space and checked it out. Siuntress is already a Radio host and interviews several comic related guests. Ranging from Joe Quesada to Matt Fraction to Chris Roberson, it's a fantastic show.

The Walking Dead Podcast- It's primarily focused on the TV show but the hosts have read the comics so they know what they're talking about. Two funny guys with a co-host at times recapping episodes and giving their thoughts. And when they describe Michonne giving pleasure to someone as "She gently hoists her lips upon his... dong", you know this show is going to be hilarious

Spill: http://www.spill.com/
A movie review site, they do about 20-30 minute audio reviews for most films and big ones get about 5 minute animated videos. They also have the LEOG (geek media podcast), Couple of Cold Ones (Question and they do the Top 5 box office), Let's DO This (Internet Meme spawning just shooting the shit podcast), The Loading Bar (Video games reviews/previews with commentary).

Lounge Geeks: http://www.loungegeeks.com/
A spinoff of the LEOG from Spill, they have the TV Dudes (talk about TV/review shows), Animated Analysis (A animated review show with a plot), Loose Canon Comics (comics podcast), Greatest Drunk Stories ever told (nuff said), Deadly Debate (Horror movie reviews, where one defends and one attacks the quality of the film), Hatchet Men (another horror podcast), Noobs with Boobs (girls reviewing comics), Geek Techniques (how to make cool geek related items).

The Drunk Tank from Rooster Teeth: http://roosterteeth.com/home.php

Dunno if this counts... http://www.zombiepodcast.com/The_Zombie ... sodes.html
We're Alive, a radio drama with incredible production value, that focuses on a large cast of characters trying to survive after the zombie apoclypse has happened and the zombies evolve, people struggle to maintain humanity, etc.

Fatman on Batman is the best new podcast of the past six months.

The Next Dimension: A Dragon Ball Z Podcast is the best breakout show of 2012 though ;)

The only comics podcast I listen to is House To Astonish - http://www.housetoastonish.com/

They provide a fairly critical, analytic view of comics, which works for me nicely. Also the hosts are both British (Scottish to be precise), and I find it fits my sense of humour a lot better.

(I listened to a recent Nerdist podcast where they interviewed Warren Ellis, and although it was very friendly, there were some awkward culture clash moments.)
Read Hobson & Choi - my comedy-mystery webserial - right now.
More available on my blog and Twitter. Form an orderly queue.
