Agreed. And Piper is light years ahead of Pepper in my book. Barrett's stuff just feels so much more organic, explorational then later floyd. It doesn't have the polish or scale of Water's architecture, but I feel it's the genesis. He is also one of the most underrarted guitarists there is. Not in a virtuostic sense, but in terms of creating a sound that is unmistakable. It's like he was painting sounds rather then playing notes. I think you'll understand what I mean having heard him. Gilmour was obviously heavily influenced. Barrett is my favorite album from the box-set.

You ever heard Big Star? Absoulutely love their Pop sensibility. Chilton is another guy who was underrated as a guitar player.
