After you listen to the show please leave your thoughts on this thread.

The opening song brings back some great childhood memories. This is from the Electric Company.

"Why would Uatu call himself Buffy and not Blade?" My guess--Uatu's kind-of a nerdy guy who watched the show, and Blade in the Marvel Universe probably isn't publicly known about.

As for the blood--I thought it was apparent that it was the scent that was going through the air, not blood gas. I think if they tried to do what you suggest, you would probably complain that it's more unnecessary dialogue/explaining the action.

No Turning Back in general...I enjoyed it, a solid C+/B story. It has it's flaws, including the Madame Web stuff (I'm surprised no one mentioned the "Now your future's filled with NOTHING but Spider-Butt!" bit), but the story bits with Peter, Morbius and Lizard made for interesting reads and potentially other stories.

Wait, what other story did Slott use that was potential Crawlspace stories?

How was the Mysterio situation screwed up?

Alpha...an interesting idea that was just completely and utterly wasted by awful plot holes and an utterly uninteresting character. Looking back, doing this for Uatu sounds like a GREAT idea.

I have to disagree with JR a little bit with the whole "hero gets powers, uses it to not only fight crime, but to get endorsement deals" thing. Two words: Booster Gold. It can work, they just have to show that there's more to the character then that, which guys like Giffen and Johns have. Andy here...not so much.

Also, I think another huge problem this had was overpowering the kid. I think the only way this would have worked is if the kid got powers that are if not similar to Peter's, then at least in a similar sort-street-level power set. Like one of you guys said, having him be "the biggest potential threat in the universe" just feels like Gary Stu wish fulfillment.

"You handle it, Parker, I'm going to scratch my ass" made me laugh so hard. :D

The sad thing about that product placement was that Avenging Spider-Man #12 was MILES better as both a story and as a tribute/anniversary issue than this.

Good episode. :)

I vaguely remember Spider-Man on the Electric Company, but not this song...what a weird find.

Kudos on the round robin format, (pros, cons and grade) from each panel member. It made the reviews flow a bit better and got the panel members to play off each others comments better. I tend to recall that BD had tried this format before on other podcasts, but for some reason did not stick. Anyway, it made for a good listen and moved the conversation forward nicely.

Alpha...that seems to be a big problem for many fans. Spider-Man with a teenage sidekick, it sounds like a bad parody, especially with such a bad character name "Andy McGuire". Reminds me of the "love interest/rival" that Marv Wolfman introduced back in the day with the horrible name of "April Maye". When a name is this lame, I suspect (hope) Alpha will be written off quickly. According to the recent review on the front page, that appears to be the case, so let's hope Alpha is shortlived.

On another note, I would like to suggest some time provided to the new Ultimate Spider-Man. Perhaps a quarterly review instead of monthly? It has now been a year since Miles Morales has been introduced and it is my understanding there are some panel members reading, but no mention of the book. Just a thought...

Are you reading our minds? Kev is actually starting a new segment on Oct's show that will tackle this request which we've been getting a lot lately. Thanks as always for the feedback.

"The ground quakes and the heavens cry tears of blood when Kevin gives out his brand of Crawlspace justice. Babies cry, grown men avert their eyes, women pass out and even the wind gives pause. Kevin’s eyes glow and lightning crackles around them. It’s pretty epic and definitely not for the timid." - Michael Bailey
