Even though I was there, I have a shorter and shoerter-termed memory when it comes to recording podcasts.

That being said, Crazy Chris' review of the first issue made me cry I was laughing so hard. I think during the recording I was already cracking up and missed his Obama quote.

Funny that Don mentioned Paul Jenkins last story. It was just reprinted in the Amazing Spider-Man Secret Origins trade paperback.

Another good listen. Nice to see some anticipation building on yalls part for the movie coming out this summer, cause I for one am extremely excited.
Although I will say this, I've watched the trailer a good 30-40 times and at no point does the spider on his back light up or whatever... not sure where Spideydude got that, cause it definitely does not happen.

Chris's review was funny but I wouldn't put it past Obama to put down Cap for taking down a communist spy.

Yep. I watched all three trailers, plus the alternate versions and I'm pretty sure it's just the light reflecting on the symbol. Also, having a power source on your back seems a bit unsafe.

Michael Massee, who plays the shadowy guy who talks to Connors, has two comic book connections. He was one of the bad guys in The Crow, and he also voiced Bruce Banner in the Ultimate Avengers animated features.

RE: Artwork in ASM 683 emergency G8 summit

After looking closely at the art and some photos, I think the woman next to President Obama is supposed to be Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany. The gentleman to her right might be President Francois Hollande of France or Prime Minister Mario Monti of Italy. I think it's more likely the former than the latter.

On the next page, there's another world leader inset (shocked expressions), which is probably meant to be either Prime Minister David Cameron of the United Kingdom or Prime Minister Stephen Harper of Canada.

Oh, and by the way - I think it was Zach who said that the tooth that the Rhino used on Thor was mythological in nature. That's correct - it was a tooth of Jörmungandr- the Midgard Serpent. In the mythology, Thor kills the Serpent, but the snake's venom kills him in return.

Nah--he would just be mad that Cap didn't give him a chance to use his unmanned drones to carpet bomb the area and the four square blocks surrounding it to get him.

Onto the episode:

As for Dying Wish theories--my first thought was Aunt May.

Also, I think Slott said that "Danger Zone" has something to do with Phil Urich/Hobgoblin and what he referred to before as "Hobgoblin Inc."

Amazing Spider-Man trailer--loved it. :D

As for the focus on the parents thing...my feeling is that Peter doesn't have this so much in the comics because they were confirmed to be dead. My guess is that they just...disappeared, and the mystery of it--where they went, why they left, why they didn't take him with them, is something that would legitimately bother a person at the very least. Plus, Uncle Ben's death is something that is well known--the mystery aspect of Peter's parents is something new and different for the movies and it's a good idea to focus their marketing on that so people don't just think it's simply a point-by-point rehash of the origin.

"I hope that's Uncle Ben's funeral." I dunno, that seemed like too big a deal in the middle of the city with a whole bunch of people around for it to be Ben's. George Stacy is very possible.

[Chris: The spoiler below is a big one for the Amazing Spider-Man movie, so DO NOT read it unless you want to have a major point of speculation ruined]

And yes, Uncle Ben is going to die in the movie. It was seen through set vids.

Not a huge fan of Dennis Leary, mostly for his joke thieving, but he is a solid actor, I'm sure he'll pull it off.

As for the cops thing...if you keep attention to the news, you'll find that police and political figures get away with fucked-up, horrific shit all the time.

I don't know if the Jarvis computer is around, but I do know Jarvis the butler is around in the Avengers books.

I kinda interpreted the yaught thing was that it was for "science." I.e., Max wanted a yacht, was rich enough to get one, and now that they need to be in international waters to help out Spider-Man, hey, they have a yacht for science!

I kinda like the idea of Spidey teaming with Sable and Widow, but after hearing it was originally going to be Felicia and Flash, I kinda wish it was that.

I'm with I believe it was CrazyChris on Peter's position in this book--sure, he's probably a little too overconfident, it'll probably bite him in the ass a bit, but I do like the idea of Peter being in this big leadership position, and it does feel very different from what we've seen before, and it could make for some interesting stories later on depending on how it goes.

On one hand, I can't argue with JR's reasoning about the UN...on the other, the Marvel Universe is a place where the people in power built sixty foot-tall robots to completely wipe out a segment of humanity. I've excepted at this point that pretty much everyone with political power in the 616 is clinically insane.

The app thing, if I remember right, was some sort of semi-hypnosis, where it presents something and it makes you think of it, and since Sandman uses his mind, his subconscious, his imagination to create his forms, when he's thinking of those things, part of him is creating them through his sand body.

Good episode. :)

That's a spoiler? I thought that plot point was already a given. Not to argue your moderation Chris, I just expected something that was a bigger spoiler than that.

Any information that's based on set videos should be presumptively considered a spoiler because its not information intended to be released to the viewing public ahead of time and its exactly the sort of thing people who want to view the film with fresh eyes would try to avoid. This particular thing is a fixture in the source material but that only makes it "a given" if you assume this film is following the source material loyally. What we've seen so far would lead someone to question that premise, especially since the character concerned apparently has an expanded role in the story based on the amount of screen time received in the trailer. The fact the spoiler was revealed in direct response to the podcasters' speculation on whether or not it would happen in this film should have been a hint that not everyone was sure it was going to happen. Maybe I overstressed the magnitude of the spoiler but it definitely is something that should have been hidden.

Let's move on because its not worth dwelling on. Overall that was a nice post, DarkKnightJared. As the new guy its a cool new experience to see someone investing the time into addressing what was said on the podcast.

Definitely can't wait to hear what others thought on this and the rest of this month's parts, too!
