Whisper's on my list of films to see in the coming weeks. I'm waiting for another friend finish watching it. But it's nice to know that there is another Texan, aside from Robert E. Howard, who likes the Lovecraft.

Just remember that Conan the Barbarian is also a Texan...

@Don: Ignore the X-Men anime, from what I saw I barely saw anything more than angst, and it's very painful to watch

I pretty much agree with George about what should be done with Aunt May. JMS wrote her better than any writer I know of, and I think wiping her knowledge of Spider-Man was a massive regression.

I don't think I agree with Brad that she needs to be around to remind Peter about Uncle Ben. I don't think Peter needs a reminder. He'll remember it every time he sees a criminal running from the scene of a crime, and he sees that every day. So while I don't think she should be dead, I don't think her primary purpose in the story is to remind Peter about Uncle Ben.

I've been to Howard's house!

A lot of where Howard got his inspiration from, for Conan and other characters, came from the wilds around the Palo Pinto mountains, out in Palo Pinto, Jack, Parker, Montague, Wise and other counties. I routinely drive through those areas for fun.

Comic characters I'd like to meet:Jaime Reyes,Daredevil, Kitty Pryde, and some dude named Peter Parker. Oh and when I die, I want to see the Neil Gaiman version of Death.

I may or may not be obsessed with that particular character.

I've got Dr Doom level diplomatic immunity since I'm the head of Zeta House. I'll be fine.

Loeb-McGuinness would be a good team for another Spider-Man and Superman crossover. My choices are Defalco-Frenz-Buscema, Busiek-Bagley, and Romita Jr and somebody. I just want to see JRJR draw more Superman. Maybe Romita Sr too.

With Bertone impressions, I always think of his Betty Brant sobbing. *bloo bloo bloo bloo bloo!*

Surprising moments where I found out someone I knew was geeky--in my first semester in college, I had a history class about the Vietnam War, and my teacher collects everything related to it, which included comics. When I showed him comics that related to the war, like Preacher, Watchmen, and Punisher: Born, he gave me an issue of "The 'Nam." He was already pretty awesome, but that took his cool-factor even higher.

I honestly think you guys really need to check out Avenging Spidey #5. Not only is it a solid one-and-done team-up story, but it got Peter down PAT as a character.

I've read a few issues of Aaron's Hulk--pretty fun. Any comic that involves Dr. Doom performing brain surgery with a chainsaw is genius in my book.

I was half-way through the X-Men anime, which outside of utterly jobbing Storm, was pretty good. It takes a little bit of Dark Phoenix Saga, a little bit from Morrison's X-Men (the U-Men are the main villains), and Astonishing (most of the team line-up replacing Colossus with Storm and not having Kitty).

And yeah, the schoolgirl you're thinking of is Armor, who was introduced in Whedon's Astonishing run. She is Japanese in the regular story, they just changed it so that instead of her story starting at Xavier's School, it's when they first find her in Japan.



Post-JMS, I think that one story where May poisoned Chameleon with cookies when he was posing as Peter was pretty badass. Outside of that, yeah, not a whole lot has been done with her.

As for people Peter can confide in without Aunt May knowing...they're not technically his supporting cast, but he has a good rapport with members of the Avengers.

I think the biggest names I personally met in comics are John Layman and Rob Guillory, the creative team of Chew. I bought a trade from them and I got it signed by both of them.

"How much action can you get out of Alfred?" Hey, Alfred was in the RAF and MI6, depending on the continuity. He's pretty much just as badass as Batman.
