"Isn't everyone dumping Batgirl?" I'm not. I've enjoyed the past few issues--crummy first villain aside--and I think it's been getting better with each issue. I feel it's the best take on Barbara Gordon in years.

Yes, Brad, you need to pick up Chew.

I was initially tempted to write down Vermin Supreme on the ballot, but now I'm thinking Rocket Raccoon isn't a bad idea either...

Honestly, I'm not sure if Secret Wars is a good idea to give to a kid today. I mean, in terms of adult content, it's fine, but I recently just read that for the first time, and...holy HELL that does not hold up to the test of time.

On the next villain for Arkham City--the twist is kinda reversable, but my guess is that it's going to be either Ra's/Talia, Scarecrow, or Harley. I'm also thinking it might have something to do with Azrael.

Batman: Ego is REALLY good.

On Morrison changing the events of Son of the Demon in Batman & Son--Morrison later admitted that he messed up the details when he wrote that arc, and in the Last Rites story he did in Batman that tied into Final Crisis, he actually changed it back. In the first page of the second part, there's a full-page spread of Bruce and Talia embracing and, while Talia's line wasn't from the story, their dress is almost exactly what it was in Son of the Demon.

So when you look at that first scene in Morrison's first arc, you can read it as him deflecting the events of Son of the Demon and focusing on some of the terrible things she's done since then.

Read the first issue of the new USM and liked it, I'll definitely get the trades moving forward.

Good episode. :)

To Don: Death Note is very very good. Personally I like Bleach and Naruto too, but I think they are getting a bad rep from the largely immature(on the verge of braindead) and childish fanbase. Especially if you look into Naruto there is a theme of maturity from how he becomes more and more serious the more powerful he gets(Sort of like Spideys mantra "power and responsibility"). And I like how in Bleach the soul reapers are styled like samurais and their afterlife is very feudal looking( Naruto is set in fairly feudal setting as well, just with a bunch of ninjas instead of samurais)

And to Brad: Does Spider-Man Hookie(spell check?) look more trippy than Spider-Man Fever? Cause damn: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Wvwrhjj4_aM/S74eoWgjIgI/AAAAAAAAACc/K_Vy_5yVFFA/s1600/spidermanfever2-584.jpg

Sorry George is not enjoying Fantastic Four on Hickman's run. I am quite enjoying it and like GB, one my favorite FF runs was the Byrne run in the 80's. I hear Hickman is leaving the book soon, not sure if I will stick around if he does.

First comic to get a young reader would be Amazing Spider-Man #1 thru 20. If they like that...have them keep going to issue #400.
If they like "modern" stuff, I would get them started with Ultimate Spider-man that came out 12 years ago. Yep...it has been 12 years already.

Under appreciated Spider-Man run? My vote is Wolfman's. Conway had some pretty major stuff that is still relevant to the series now. (Death of Gwen, the introduction of the Punisher, Harry as the new Green Goblin...). But Wolfman had the Black Cat, the death of the Burglar, etc. and had a great feel for the book. Sure, I am biased, that is when I started collecting every issue..

I agree with the panel that Bendis has an extremely "uncompressed" style that makes it a "quick read", but for some reason, I enjoy it. I find it interesting that as comic readers get older, many fans are more interested in the characters, or the story progression, but new powers...not so much. Which is funny. What attracted me to super heroes as a kid is their cool powers. So when I saw Bendis do something different with the powers, I wonder how the kids feel about it. That is, if kids are still reading this stuff.

Thanks for another fine podcast. Can't wait to hear the wrap-up to my follow up question...
