We were just line reading in a group, me and two other boys and I hadn't any lines for a while so I picked the character of Marie. Earlier I had been listening to an episode of Amazing Spider-Man Classics (R.I.P.) and as always, Bertone gave a great Betty Brant impersonation. So I went for a female voice and went for Bertone's Betty voice. Led to my teacher over-hearing and deciding I should take on the role of Marie in the production as a whole. We'll have to see whether this ends well or not...

Is Marie bat shit crazy? At least you got a part. Remember this is how Tom Hanks got his start and he's a multiple Oscar winner.

We need some cheering up I say so here's a badass live version of learning to fly from Tom Petty from the Isle of Wight festival. Live music is so much fun when there is harmony.

Greetings from the mysterious lands to the east everybody! Along with embarking on this crazy 2 year deployment, I am also undertaking another more lighthearted challenge *SHAMELESS PLUG AHEAD!!!!*, a geek related blog. That's right you get to read my rants, learn of my love for comics, possibly even get a writing lesson, get a glimpse of projects I have in mind after my military career is over, and anything else geek related you can imagine. From t.v. to comics, movies, lit (English major people, sorry ;)), and so forth. And you can find it here at http://www.theonceandfuturegeek.wordpress.com hope to see you there. Wassup, all my Delta Bretheren! AmFan15 is back in the hiz-ouse!!! [smilie=spidey_clap.gif] [smilie=spidey_dance.gif]

That's right, folks, after almost two weeks in the Windy City (Chicago, to any who might not know  ), I am back home in NC.
My family and I had a great trip...easily one of the best trips ever. In fact, it was so good we didn't want to leave!
We did everything we possibly could during our time there...and this time my daughter was old enough to really enjoy it.

Places we visited while in Chicago
- The Shedd Aquarium
- The Field Museum
- The Skydeck at the "Willis" (Formerly Sears) Tower, and "The Ledge" (a clear plexiglass extension 103 stories up over the city, baby! [smilie=spidey_not_kidding.gif] )
- The Museum of Science and Industry (including a special "Mythbusters" exibit!)
- Navy Pier

We also took nearly every form of public transportation available...train, bus, subway, cab, and even a "water taxi" across Lake Michigan (from the aquarium to Navy Pier).
Also, because my daughter loves pizza, I introduced her to the exquisite scrumptiousness that is Chicago Deep Dish Pizza.

I tell you, folks, I have never had a better trip. I really did hate to leave.
(I'm going to post photos on Facebook later...I'll post some here too, if anyone would like to see them.)

If she dies, does it mean anything beyond a brief sales spike because collectors/speculators think they'll be able to make a profit selling the book later? That is the question. Back when, Stan and company won our hearts and minds. I cared about Spider-Man and the other Marvel characters as though they were friends. I cared every time Aunt May got sick. That's what good creative work does."

Welcome Back Am Fan. Thanks for letting me know about Heroes Con!!

It was my first Con and it rocked!!! Best Father's Day present EVER!!!Image I had a ton of fun. I got so many signatures and met a ton of cool creators. I hit pretty much everyone who had worked on Spider-Man. Image

Legends like Lee Weeks and Mike Zeck. Image

Lee Weeks performed magic tricks for me and talked about his faith. He was a great guy. He said he had to quit the second half of the Temptation of Eddie Brock story because it went against his beliefs.

I talked for a while with Ron Garney and my favorite Mark Bagley. Image

The new Ultimate Spider-Man artist David Marquez was super cool and gave me a free sketch of the web head. The panels were really cool. Hickman and Fraction complained about not being able to age, marry, or make characters into parents. They said editorial wants all characters to stop aging so poor Franklin will never hit puberty.

Most of all I got to meet Stan the Man!!! He was so jovial and energetic at 89. His first panel was like a comedy show and the second was more heart felt. He literally hopped up the stairs at his panel. I asked if he got his energy from a radioactive spider bite or soper soldier serum. Stan said "doing what you love and are passionate about will keep you young".

No problem, man. Glad you could go, and that you had such a great time. [smilie=spidey_cheers.gif]
Hopefully we can get together at the next one.

I talked for a while with Ron Garney and my favorite Mark Bagley.

Mark Bagley is my second favorite Spidey artist of all time, behind only John Romita Sr.

Hickman and Fraction complained about not being able to age, marry, or make characters into parents. They said editorial wants all characters to stop aging so poor Franklin will never hit puberty.

So even the staff is complaining about the editorial mandates...I wonder how the big-wigs are gonna spin that?

First time I read New Ways to Die it felt like the best Spidey story that year, second time it felt like a chore to go through it, and I read it a few months after the first time
Reading it again, it's very meh, I can read the whole Len Wein run before getting through NWTD once more
From Scimitar to Merciless, and I'm barely violent :p
Sweet Tooth Batman
BATMAN is an awesome movie

For AmFan. [smilie=spidey_cheers.gif]

Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka demands

The last Spider-Man comic I read was back in December. I read The Origin of the Hobgoblin tpb. Prior to that, I can't remember the last Spider-Man comic book I read. I think it was the last appearance of Spider-Girl (Mayday); prior to that it was the Clone Wars mini-series with Ben Reilly. What was that? A year or two ago? [smilie=spidey_lol.gif]

Oh well. Back to Star Wars: The Old Republic now. Much better than Marvel comics right now.

So, who's the real sicko, America? Me, for carrying out this little prank? The producers and executives at the network, who let it all happen-- or is it you people, who mindlessly watched it all on your television sets? - The Joker
No one stands on the top of the world. Not you, not me, not even Gods. But the unbearable vacancy of the throne in the sky is over. From now on...I will be sitting on it. - Sosuke Aizen
Smoking marijuana, eating Cheetos and masturbating do not constitute plans in my book. - Walter White
Look straight ahead. Look squarely at the people you're killing. And don't forget them. Never...forget them. Because they won't forget you.

English majors are a superior life form. Fact.
Proudly #2 on Anti-QMD list.
#1 on the list is Peter Parker. No duh!

You, sir, are a god among men! :)

I know I posted this image over in the Marvel Now! Thread but wanted to add it here for your perusal, too: It's my honest reaction to what the impending OMDing of the entire Marvel Universe is more and more starting to look like.

Sadly, it's emblemtic of ASM in particular and now Marvel as a whole. Still, it's either laugh or cry at this point, so why not laugh?
I am a Delta because I loved Spider-Man, I grew up with him and I want to love him again.
I'm a Delta because I believe that being true to the spirit of who Peter is means that we must dissent to carry the torch that Stan the Man lit.
I’m a Delta because I believe that Peter Parker’s best days are still ahead of him, with Mary Jane Watson-Parker by his side.
