I'm a bit behind but what did you think of the Ends of the Earth finale? Thought the conclusion wasn't as satisfying as I'd hoped for. This often happens with multi part stories as the end seems to wrap far too quickly. For instance the previous shorter stories with Spidey and the Torch and Spidey and Grady Scrapps were concluded very nicely.

I haven't been able to find most of Ends of the Earth, along with the first issue of No Turning Back AND the Circle of Four storyline of Venom and it's bugging the crap out of me.

Going back to China in ten days, so I'm picking up a lot more comics. Got Avenging Spider-Man #9-10 and Captain Marvel #1 on a whim. Haven't done that at all, especially with a new series.

You should get a marvel sub. 36 issues of spidey really cheap at the moment.
BTW saw Amazing Spider-man with my children a few days ago. They all loved it. AS did I. Good reboot. Has its problems but Garfield and Stone shine. Wanted more Denis Leary.

Anyone read Future Foundation 17? It has a great Johnny/Pete story. Very funny.

I'll be sure to look for it.

Raining like crazy here. As far as I know, my friends and relatives are fine. The rest of Luzon isn't.

Glad you are ok. I hadn't heard about the flooding there until now.

I'm hoping people pick up the new Captain Marvel book. Kelley Sue Deconnick had an interview with Word Balloon and she was so passionate about the book, I want it to succeed. She says it'll be a miracle if the book gets past 8 issues, I hope we can prove her wrong.

Yeah, if you read anything she wrote you can feel her love for the character but it doesn't get overt.

The government is considering pushing back school to September, since this is the second time it's happened in three years. So between that, and the extra two years in middle school, we're becoming more and more like the States.

I asked it in the Anti-House and as I've been a member of this house also, I felt I'd ask for a bit of a balanced response:

Is it worth getting Slott's run since Big Time? I've got up until the first proper issue of Spider-Island anyway, but has his run been good enough to validate me coming back and collecting, completing my collection from the start of BND up until the present?

A lot of it is written like a cartoon, with not much subtlety and the whining can get grating, but if you can get past that, there's fun stuff in there and we see something different with Peter Parker with him being a successful scientist and superhero.(the success is probably getting to his head)

And really with a character that has been around for fifty years(the anniversary officially being this month, actually) there are those times that the character isn't to everybody's liking, but they endure anyways and eventually somebody different will come along and change stuff up.

I'm starting to get preachy, I'm sorry. :P

You're a bit behind? I haven't even got to Ends of the Earth yet. I have ASM # 681 to current sitting in my to read pile. I'm SERIOUSLY behind in my reading. :(

It's amusing that the folks who actively dislike ASM are probably up-to-date on each issue!

When did you quit reading ASM? If you've enjoyed recent issues then start collecting from Slott's solo run. Why don't you be very bold and cherry pick a few issue from a torrent feed and if you like them - go forth and conquer. Not that I'm endorsing reading pirated comics! You could always pick up a cheap collection of Slott's issue on Amazon or ebay. And then get the single issues.
AS For collecting all of BND? Well that's a loaded one. AS you know it's a mixed bag but there were some nice runs in it.

I stopped reading after SHED and OMIT. I've got all of BND sans two issues so I'll probably buy them to complete the damn thing, and I got Slott's first year or so anyway as I was still buying them in hopes of revisiting the whole thing one day.
