It gets easier with practice. You did manage to get Noob to a tie against a very popular member of the X-Men. That was pretty impressive. You also came within one vote of a draw, and two of defeating me with Kirby. Something to ponder as well.

I spent several hours coming up with my opening remarks, scouring the web for scans and videos and rereading the available chronological histories of both Bill and Herc. I saw those scans of Herc beating both Venom and Sentry, but I thought the Galactus thing would make up for it... I was glued to the screen of both my computers and my phone, shooting down any possible counter until I could no more... I was distraught because my opponent(s) seemed to provide arguments so effortlessly, while I struggled all along the way. Then people kept voting against me without leaving any feedback... Finally, those scans showed up and everything unraveled so quickly. It was pitiful.
It's part of the risk. A match can go in any direction. Even when you think you have an unbeatable pick, someone else comes along with the pick that can top your unbeatable pick in a fair fight. It happens!
Also, there's no rule saying people have to say how they voted. And even if they do it's no guarantee that you're going to change their mind. Just concentrate on the ones who are amenable to listening. Sometimes you'll be surprised when someone who had been silent comes forth and says they're convinced and is voting your way because of something you pointed out.

25 votes. You only lost by 3. You did a VERY good job. Even when you debate something until you are blue in the face and throw up scan after scan after scan it's possible to still lose. And it can be aggravating - I know from personal experience! But it's Fight Club. You take the hits, you celebrate the wins.

You're right. It does sound melodramatic. So stop! You lost in the First Round. So what? You've joined the ranks of other Fight Clubbers who lost in their first rounds last season after brutal, energy sapping debates that went on a day longer than your fight did! People like CrazyChris, BertoneBeatle, gregxb - and ME! You're in good company! Hell Two-Bit... I only got 43% in my first Douglas Classic match. You got 44!
Pick yourself up, pat yourself on the back for a great fight and get ready for the Battle Bowl and the Awards Ceremony. You. Did. Good. And if you feel worn out? Well it's the Douglas Classic, and that means you played your heart out. That's all anyone can do. You made it into the Classic. 21 others didn't. Enjoy the fact you gave it your best.
Two bit put up a great fight and this realy could have gone either way. I know what it is like to feel like you put it all on the line and still lose. Hell, I lost to Ladyspider when she didn't even make an argument because she picked fan favorite Deathstroke. Not getting feedback on why people are voting is frustrating also. Either way, you made it to the playoffs which is an accomplishment many others who fought hard this season can't say they have and you lost in a close match.
Spidergirl made a great pick with Hercules. When I read him in old Avengers comics he didn't seem all that formidable. I will certainly be taking another look at him after this.
Congrats, Stella! You've come a long way since your humble beginnings last season. And you've advanced even further than me this season!
Sniff...Our little girl's growing up! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Two-Bit, don't despair...you made it all the way to the Douglas Classic, after all! You must have SOME skill at debating to have made it this far! And you only lost by three votes...it could be worse: I lost by 5 to George, despite picking a character I truly thought should have won. But I'm not sore...After all, (And I could probably be banned for saying this, so I won't say it too loud)
at the end of the day, it's just a game.
Look at it this way...if you're having fun, well then, THAT'S THE ENTIRE POINT! Keep it up! When you stop having fun, then maybe it is time to take a break. The Battle Bowl is the last stop for us this season. After that, you'll have a few months to rest up and think it over. Hopefully we'll see you back in Season Three!
However, I will say this, and say it loud: IF YOU'RE NOT HAVING FUN IN THE FIGHT CLUB FORUM, THEN BROTHER,YOU'D BETTER CHECK YOUR PULSE!
Come join me, Butters, and Ladyspider at the Tiki Bar, Two-Bit...we'll have a pity party, and share tales about how we "Almost Got 'Im"...or in your case, "Her!"

"Whether Aunt May dies or not isn't the question. If she dies, does it mean anything beyond a brief sales spike because collectors/speculators think they'll be able to make a profit selling the book later? That is the question. Back when, Stan and company won our hearts and minds. I cared about Spider-Man and the other Marvel characters as though they were friends. I cared every time Aunt May got sick. That's what good creative work does."
