I'm sure some folks are sick of seeing me post here so this'll be my last post for this fight (I hope).

Forget Batman, Dinah trained with Cass and passed. And you gotta agree, Don, that's saying something right there.

And don't forget that she was later trained by Cass' mom, Lady Shiva. The result?

Point is Black Canary is no push over when it comes to combat.

That's correct. I don't think anybody here has said she is. It's just that Spider-Man's abilities, battle experience, cunning, heart and will, combined with this particularly hostile environment combine to form an equation that's too much for her to overcome.

But this from her Wiki:

From Wiki:
Dinah is a strong leader and strategic thinker — qualities recognized by the other superheroes, who have selected her as the Chairwoman of the JLA (John Stewart speculated that Black Canary is "tactically the best chairperson the Justice League has ever had", placing her strategic skills next to Batman, with charisma comparable to that of Superman).

Implying that she could defeat Batman, Spider-Man, and destroy an entire island full of T-rexes and Raptors, as well as dangerous herbivores by screaming, and take out Spider-Man (symbiote or no), greatly exaggerates her powers and abilities. If she's that powerful she should be able to scream really loud and kill Superman due to his super hearing. But she can't beat Vixen? Well damn. How powerful is she then?

I like Black Canary. I just don't see her winning here when Spider-Man has as many more options than she does. And I'd be voting for Spider-Man over her even if I hadn't picked the character. I voted for Black Canary over Vixen earlier because I do think that despite Vixen being more powerful, Canary had other elements that combined to make her a more formidable package. Those include experience, tactical knowledge, and will. But while those helped her against Vixen in my mind, they don't against Spider-Man (not enough to win anyway).

I never said Dinah can't fight. She sure as heck can. Definitely in the top ten list of martial artists in the DCU. I'm not even saying she couldn't win in this scenario.

Saying she can beat Batman is just too much, I don't care who says it.

For what its worth, I'm switching my vote to her considering all the factors laid out already.

Spider-Man has an advantage in speed, agility, strength and has wall crawling and symbiote generated webbing.
Black Canary is agile, I'd say has superior combat skill and experience and possesses her conic scream.

I'd think that it would be a back and forth contest between the two until Canary gains the adantage with her sonic attack, which would mess with the symbiote, but Spidey would web up her mouth when things look most dire and subdue Black Canary.

Winner: Symbiote Spider-Man

I take pride in the 43% I actually got. Congrats to Thrawn - Spidey-Fandom for the win. He'll face either CrazyChris or Kevin Cushing next.

You should. You managed to hoodwink 43% of them into voting for you over my superior arguments and their Spidey fandom. I didnt' know who was going to win this. The votes kept fluctuating so much. This was without a doubt one of the hardest fights I've had.

I also should really thank Hambone and FSU in particular for participating and putting out some very good arguments while I was unable to post for the first three pages of the thread. I could have been a goner without them. George Berryman fandom can be a pretty hard thing to overcome too. Thanks guys. [smilie=spidey_cheers.gif]

Trolling through images of Spidey in the black suit was good for me George. It helped to remind me why I liked Spidey before all that OMD/BND crap. I was also a little surprised when you didn't go with this pic for the trading card George:

Good times.

Thank you. You know what this means right George? I finally defeated you. It took me all season, but I finally did it.

I won't remember any of this tomorrow. For you, the day Thrawn defeated you in the Douglas Classic was the most important day of your life. But for me...it was Thursday. 8)

I can retire from Fight Club a happy man now. What's that you say? There's no retiring from Fight Club? Dang it all.

/All right. I'm done gloating now boss.

No problem. It was fun. I got all passionate standing up for Spidey with people underestimating him.

George may have lost but he is the big winner for putting all this together and doing the hilarious intros.

I'll agree with that. I like how George managed to put different characters on the tv monitors in the background for each pic too. That was an especially nice touch. I like Dirty Harry behind Wolvie and Cap.

Hey Geroge! I just noticed that in the Dr. Doom pic you've got Jack Burton and Gracie Law on the tv behind them. Dude. Do you know how undeniably cool that is?! EPIC WIN!! BTILC is one of my two all time favorite movies!

George, if there ever was any doubt, you sir are awesome. Crap on a stick that's so cool!

"Well, ssseven pagesss and almossst a hundred replies later, George Berryman liesss in defeat before Thrawn."

"What the Hell was that kind of fight being? Sonic powers? Webbing? Symbiotes? Spider-Man decides to paint himself with some tar-like alien and Gandhi is supposed to give a damn? Was it too much to be asking for giant people beating the crap out of one another?"

"Agreed, Mahatma. We ssshould've been covering that Thor vs. Ssstarkiller fight."

"Well that one was being all one sided and totally over fast but yeah, we would've seen someone huge creaming someone else, right?"

"Ssso Thrawn advancesss onto Round Two to face Kevin Cussshing. Any ideasss on that one thisss early out, Mo?"

"No. I'm so disappointed now I'm just going back to the hotel to watch Rocky III in my room. You are being free to join me if you are wishing to, Stegron."

"No can do, Mo. All this Jurasssic Park dinosssaur action hasss gotten me all worked up. I'm going to go out on the town tonight and blow off sssome sssteam. Maybe get my bearded lizard on."

"Please to just being careful when undergoing relations with the ladies, my friend. Mahatma's buddy caught something last week that Superman cannot be taking off."

"Gotcha, Mahatma. For Mohandasss K. Gandhi, George Berryman and everyone elssse at the Crawl Ssspace Fight Club crew, thisss isss Lord Ssstegron saying "DIE, APESSS!"
