Berserk. :P

No seriously, Berserk. I don't care for any of the previous 3 choices. Especially Naruto.

Berserk is like the playboy of manga. It will go on forever as long as the old man lives.

Yes there are some similarities
You can say that 95% of anime is a rip-off though. The Japanese tend to use common tropes that they know would sell. Especially nowadays it's all about pandering to the existing fanbase since Japan is most of the time, scared of change...especially their old guard of anime creators. This has a lot to do with their current anime industry in a slope for the past decade so mixed with production studios fear of playing with new ideas and leaving their current otaku following, coupled with the fact that Japan is a collective mindset (which is probably why their democratic socialist government works there), a majority tend to venture in "familiar" territory when it comes to storylines.
So they play the "careful" card while submitting their anime plans to broadcast channels like Tokyo MX or AT-X because air-time block are rather expensive. And these ludicrous broadcasters have this criteria that needs to be met in order for a studio's new anime series to get on the air. In Japan being an anime creator is rather frustrating since most of their original ideas get tossed in the trash in order to fit the "criteria". So in the end, a majority of anime ends up looking like it came from a cookie cutter template or they used some kind of checklist.

I remember getting pissed off during my tour at Sunrise Studios when I heard about all that crap from one of the employees. Sadly, their natives just eat it up.

The only way Bleach can end is if the mangaka decides to put out the last volume of the manga. But so far the manga is still being published by Shuesha so Studio Pierrot still has a lot of material to animate. I've even lost track of which manga volume the anime is covering at this point LOL.

As for Detective Conan, I'm amazed at how much steam the creator Gosho Aoyama has...and the guy can still keep going successfully. Any sign that a manga serial is about to end is when the storyline is pushed towards the end pages of Shonen Jump magazine so fortunately it still has a huge loyal fanbase to keep the manga serial going.

You people are lazy. When I left, this thread was filled with traffic. It hasn't been that way for awhile. I've been reading a lot of Yu-Gi-Oh! recently. I must say it is pretty different to what I expected and I'm really enjoying it for the most part.

I've been reading Saturn Apartments. Kind of reminds me of Planetes. A Realistic slice of life drama in space.

You can read some chapters online: http://www.sigikki.com/series/saturnapa ... ndex.shtml

Good stuff.

As I said in the "Last comic you read" thread.

Thanks to Funnykay I've been watching a lot of Bleach lately. I went from about episode 35 to ep. 93 over Christmas break.

Image

It starts out as a rip off of Yuyu Hakusho until you get to about episode 17. Even than it's not enough of a rip off to make you roll your eyes.
Each character is truly unique.

They really break the mold around episode 54-ish. (Whenever this moment takes place)

Image
The powers and abilities really start to shine.

Now that I think about it, Ichigo is very similar to Yusuke but still different. (Is that really a bad thing? :P )
Sure both of them are antiheroes on the outside and big softies on the inside, but Yusuke has no problem fighting for sport, where as Ichigo only fights to protect his friends.

Also Captain Aizen (or Clark Kent) is one of the best characters I've seen in a long time in fiction.

It's weird what they do to his character. I've been less than pleased with Bleach's twists and turns since they did the back stories. The end of part one was very...odd.

Kinda, i like where the manga is going now, especialy with it seeiming to bring Chad into it more and get some devlopment with him which will be nice.

But its just that the war as it were went on for ever with very little end result, and imo ruinded Aizen kinda (if my theory about Aizen not being Aizen and was jsut under the control of the Hongokyou (ive got this long theory which ill post of your interested) and stuff is real then it might be kinda better) but aside from what happened to Ichigo at the end of the war it just feels like its was a complete waste because there was very little end product. Especialy since
No one on the SS side died other than Yama losing 1 arm and Gin being dead yet as far as im aware from what ive read his death hasnt been confirmed
.

So i like it now the war is over and it looks we shall finaly be getting answers particualy regarding Ishin, Chad, Yuken etc which will be nice.

I'm not afraid of spoilers. Feel free to go all out on your opinion. :P

I've noticed that as well about the series.
Renji should have died like 6 times now.

I love how most of the antagonists seem to really go for the kill, but it loses it's impact when everyone comes back from near death... :s

I'm on episode 126 now.
Ichigo is training to learn how to use his hollow mask

See id go all out in my opinion but because Funnykay is also following it feels unfair me to go on a spoiler induced tirade (which id like) if he doesnt want to know.

And problem is this war even the antagnoists didnt really try to go for the kill, when you see the first part with a few of the name none captains fighting for some pillars you soon kinda realise it will be the same kinda flow for the battle. Only one time did anyone seem to have intent to kill and that was Wonderwiess (think that was his name) and Ichigo when he returns, but Aizen essenitialy gives Ichigo time to learn to beat him. Which is why my theory is complex and long, yet i whole heartedly think its true.

My opinion of Bleach slowly becoming the same of Naruto (which i have loathed now for many years) Up until the Sasuke Retrevial arc Naruto was actualy good, and i say good as in its good not like the Narutards when they say its good. Then it has gotten progressivly worse to the point where it currently might as well be a fan fiction. My view of BLeach is slowly becoming similar in that Bleach was a great manga up until the Rescue Rukia arc and what not ended. However unlike Naruto Bleach can be good at times and what not, but it will never be as good as Rescue Rukia. However big factor for that is Kubos crap pacing, there is a reason why Bleach is meant to be read in volumes. There is one chapter which happens in the war which sums that up brilliantly.
