I think we veered off like three pages ago and I'm surprised it hasn't been shut down. It was an interesting discussion though so I'm glad we got some leeway because I wasn't going to start a child porn discussion thread. I feel like I've said my piece and it is disturbing enough that I might need to borrow some brain bleach.

Getting back to the topic of the thread (which is Anime & Manga if you've forgotten) and I must say that I really have been enjoying going through some of the old DBZ Themes. Bruce Faulconer really composed a great soundtrack. Take the Ginyu Force here for example:

Ever since I heard that from the moment the new DBZ episodes aired back in 2000, 2001, I've loved it. It fits so perfectly with the other worldy/Wild West kind of theme with the Ginyu Force. I have that and several other DBZ themes on my iPod.

I wish the Ginyu Force had stuck around for longer. Ginyu lasted a while (or ages depending on if you follow Anime Continuity over Manga continuity) but I'd have loved to see Burter, Jeice and co... doing a bit more, especially after they were hyped up.

I kinda felt bad for Jeice, 'cause he was the one member of the team who became immensely terrified after Goku wiped the floor with Recoome and Burter. And after having his hopes raised when Ginyu switched bodies with Goku, he ends up getting the shit kicked out of him, along with his ribs by Vegeta and dying horribly.

At the same time it was really funny.

I always wanted to see more from Burter. I liked his character design and thought he was quite cool.

Awesome death, although the best death is when Buu lunges down the guys throat and pops him, the vid has been posted here a few pages back so cant see the point in posting it again, but that is the best death imo, nothing comes close to as cool as that.

Just out of curisoity has anyone been following High School of the Dead recently? I been reading the manga for it for over a year so im not to bothered with the anime (im watching it (uncut obviously)), but just wondered if any fo you are following it?

I've been very busy today. I bought Volume One of Bakuman, Monster, 20th Century Boys, Ikigami and Reborn! as well as Volume 8 & 9 of Fullmetal Alchemist AND The Complete Trigun. Also I bought a Light Yagami Action Figure which was on sale. Busy day indeed.

I recently started watching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Its much more faithful to the manga, much like Hellsing Ultimate. Its refreshing to see some good anime as its been far too long. I haven't had any interest in much of whats currently getting licensed, and the two things I am interested in aren't getting licensed. Also picked up Berserk vol. 34 this week, and then I managed to find 2 voumes of Battle Angel Alita for $2 each and vol. 8 of Eden for the same.

Having watched the first four episodes of Ikko Tousen, it really is a T&A ecchi type of anime. It's just too overtly sexual to take itself seriously, and in its defense it doesn't really take itself seriously. It's meant to be a breezy, leave your brain at the door type of show and completley saturate your senses in girls and sex. I suppose it suceeds in what it tries to do, but it's no more/no less than what it is. Fanservice incarnate. It's incredibly stupid, but the show itself doesn't really try to say its not.

It's not like Bible Black where the very idea of it is too fucked up for humanity itself to fathom. (Seriously, DON'T google Bible Black.) It's a stupid show on the levels of Wrestling or any UPN sitcom. Would I reccommend it? Hell no, but it's not made to fit a general audience. It's made to titlate. If thats how someone wants to get down, God bless'im.

I wonder if I could find a script for that because that gives me an idea for a podcast.

I just recently started watching the uncut english subbed version of Naruto because of a friend's recommendation.
(He said the english dub is decent but they tend to edit things out.)

If your into true underdog stories than I recommend this one. It's kind of like X-men with ninjas in a way. (without the racial prejudice of course)
The fight scenes are very well done. These characters don't just over power each other. Fights are won by out thinking the other opponent. (Most of the time)

There are a few things that bother me though.
I've never seen a show with so much filler...
It hurts the battle scenes in my opinion. Fights get dragged out pretty long because of this.

Most battle scenes are filled with flash backs to get you to sympathize with both fighters, no matter how gruesome the other character is.


(One character is psychotic and tries to kill another in his sleep after he brutally battered him in a testing match up.)

The Naruto character is currently a teenager now. So the story does go places.

Why? (I think either you watched the American dub or didn't watch far enough. Or maybe you just think it sucks! Kids can really taint a series sometimes...)
I have to admit I'm not a HUGE anime/manga fan. So my opinion will seem pretty frat boyish on Anime sometimes.

The only anime/manga I have read/watched were:

Dragonball Z
Ronin Warriors
Case Closed
Yu Yu Hakusho
Samurai Champloo
Cowboy Bebop

*EDIT: I used to subscribe to shonen jump when I was in Germany. However I no longer remember half of the crap I read in the book. Good deal though for comics

So yeah, everything that's been on Toonami during my generation's late childhood and early teen years.

I hated Naruto at first too. even made fun of people that liked it...whoops.
