Ultimate
Spider-Man #26-Circles
The Story: MJ's NOT DEAD! She
seemingly fainted for a moment, but was quick to her feet, and in a cab.
Norman gets his ass kicked, by Fury's boys? Nope.By Spidey? hell yeah! A
beaten and battered Norman stumbles home to juice up, and gets caught in
the act buy Harry. Being the druggy he seems to be, Norman loaded up on
his steroid juice, and became more like a demon-hulk, then a sensible hallucinating
fruit. The Good: The story was pretty fast
passed, just what I was hoping for, but one thing I have learned about
Ultimate Spidey: it takes 7 or more issues for a story that Lee and Ditko
could do in one, and still seem better. Bagley's is great, as always, and
Bendis IS scripting a good story. Loved
the final panel. The Bad: That steroid Green Goblin
seems like a real screw up. Most likely, ever other dosage he takes, he'll
get bigger, me thinks this will cause problems down the road. Other then
this, good issue, but not the best, in 2 weeks, THAT better be a good
issue... The Rating: 3 out of 5
The Story:
As the story begins we see the ending of last issue thru Norman's eyes. We
see that when Norman is the goblin little ghost like creatures in his head
tell him what to Do. Then we pick up were last issue left off. Spider-Man
follows the goblin holding Mary Jane to the Brooklyn Bridge and the goblin
throws MJ off the bridge and Spider-Man dives off and uses his webbing to
catch MJ and he brings her to safety. He looks at her and says "oh
no". To Be Continued
The Good: A
really good issue. I thought the dialog was the best part about this
issue. Bendis is great at it. I used to hate the goblin back when he was
mute but he is a lot more interesting now. I really doubt MJ is dead. I
think Bendis Is just trying to shock us. And there would be no Peter/Gwen/MJ
love triangle. Good work as usual for Mark Bagley and Art Thibert. Great
all around work by everyone.
The Bad:
MJ can't be dead, we hope this truth...
The Rating:
3 out of 5
Ultimate
Spider-Man #24-"Ultimatum"
The Story:
Nick Fury and Pete go back and forth about Norman, Spider-Man and anything
else...Norman then kidnaps Mary Jane,...THAT SOB! HE WILL PAY IN ISSUE
#25!!!
The Good/Bad:
OK, this issue...went WAY...too...freakin' SLOW! I mean half of the
friggin' issue was Nick and Peter talk! The art was great as usual, Mark
Bagley does a good Fury! Hopefully 25 will be a fast paced, edge of your
seat, pulse pounding issue!
The Rating:
2 out of 5...this issue wasn't that great...
Ultimate
Spider-Man #23- "Responsible" The
Story- Peter is
told to quit being Spider-Man, and do work for Norman. Peter's
relationship is Mary seems like it is slipping as Gwen Stacy gets in the
middle of them. The Good-Yet another great story line
by Bendis! I don't think he has ever done a bad issue for Ultimate Spidey
yet! And the artwork? Bagley is still doing a great job for the series in
the art department, the cover? Excellent! The new Goblin look? Terrific!
Mary and Gwen? Truly phenomenal! The words coming from Norman's mouth,
true to the original Marvel Universe Norman! I think this new way of
Norman able to control himself turning into the Goblin, and then back into
Human form, is great. I personally didn't quite like the original design
of the Ultimate Green Goblin, but now with this more human like one, he
seems alot better. And one truly humorous part in the story, was at the beginning,
Pete was just standing there, then all of the sudden, he rips off the
mask, and pukes off the roof of the building. The Bad- Mary and Peter getting spilt
apart by Gwen? Me no like! I think that Gwen should try to hook up with
Harry, they seem more suited together, though it does seem it my lean
toward that. The end with the freaky wall thing was ok, but this must mean
that the shrink was there before to, I'm guessing in some sort of way, do
some sort of work for Norman. And did I hear right? A Doctor Warren?
Oy Vay! This Doctor Warren's first name better not be Miles! Or else we're
in for the first encounter of a Clone Saga member! But hopefully if it IS
Miles...it may be sometime until...well...sometime until we see a Clone
type thing...but I just remember...we MAY see a Jackal turn up sometime
soon! Rating: I give it: 3 out of 5
Ultimate
Spider-Man #22 "Reflections of..." The Story: "Reflections
Of..." Starts us off with Pete taking on a pathetic bunch of roller-blading,
skateboarding freaks with tasers. After taking them out, Pete swung over
to his school, and quickly changed to make it into Chemistry Class
late. After being interrogated by his teacher, Peter and Mary leave
class along with the rest of the class. Pete and MJ walk and talk on there
way to the football field.
As Pete eats his sandwich, Mary looks in shock as she notices Harry Osborn
walking past. Harry explains what has happened, and after meeting with
Flash again, the gang has a little fun with him, asking if he has
"come out of the closet" I found this hilarious. Though...I do
wonder if he is...oh well. It seems as if Gwen and Harry are going to get
together soon. They really do seem like a good couple. Ha, what twist on
the past, but back to the story. Harry tells Pete that his father, Norman,
is also back, and wants to meet with him. Pete turn the offer down. as
Peter swings on home, he ponders what is going on.
Once he gets home, he sees a limo outside his house. Norman sent the limo
to get him to come. with aunt May's permission, Pete skeptically goes, and
during the limo ride, hallucinates that he saw an image of the goblin on a
part of the bridge. After Pete gets there, he enters the room where Norman
is, and sees a TV playing Spidey's battle with Doc Ock. Norman steps out
and talks to him. tells him,"ThisSpider-Man crap. It's done."
and proceeds to stick a needle into his neck saying, "...I've
evolved." what a statement! Norman then transformed into a half human,
half goblin creature. The Good: The
return of Harry, Norman, and the Goblin! What COULDN'T be good about that?
Ok, well for Peter it isn't good, but it will sure make things interesting
now! The new Goblin looks great, I hope the next issue will have a Spidery/Goblin
battle. Oh, and on a two page spread on pages 8 and 9 (including ads)
there is a great image of Spidery mid-air shooting a web line. I'm sure it
would make a good poster or litho. The Bad: Nothing
really! Aunt May seems cool with Pete...sort...and Peter and Mary's
relationship are doing just great! and Like I said before, It seems like
Gwen and Harry are hit it off with their first meeting. The Ugly:
Ok? Roller-Blading,
Skateboarding freaks with tasers? Either Bendis got bored of the regular
bank robbers and muggers, or he's just out of his damn mind. Other then
that, the issue was incredible. Rating: I
give it (4 ) out of 5. This issue seems very good story wise, Great art
work by Mark Bagley, and I can't wait to see what Bendis will do next
issue!
