Venom 10: “Run part Five”
Script: Daniel Way
Pencils: Paco Medina
Inks: Jaun Vlasco
Story: What’s this I see a decent story? Why yes I think it… no wait there it goes. And so this series continues venom/wolverine manages to take down a space ship leaving the latest batch of female bounty hunters stranded on the ground where they find the last bunch of female bounty hunters, upon finding this they kill themselves, oh I wish I could. This leaves Patricia Robertson, what’s left of the agent, and venom/wolverine running round. But that all comes to an end when Robertson sticks the agents phone on wolvenomrine, shocks him to high heaven, and manages to absorb the symbiote into herself but keeps control of it thanks to her neural thingmagig. She then proceeds to destroy the agent and heads off into the sunset. Meanwhile wolverine wakes up and heads off to the nearest bar and the series ends on a high.
Oh wait my mistake to squeeze a couple more issues out they link us to New York, where all the spaceship flying bounty hunter people are from, along with their mysterious instructors, who after listening in on a call home from the now symbiote imbued Patricia Robertson say that now they can “finally finish this”
The Good: Out of the entire series this one wasn’t that bad, in fact in places I enjoyed it. In the end it kind of made sense and came to a semi nice conclusion and I would have been almost happy letting the series end. But now they want to drag it out and so give us a crappy little cliffhanger to make us pick up the next arc, damn you. The cover on this issue was really good and if I saw that on the shelf I would defiantly pick it up.
The Bad: The usual qualms remain, the action is still the main focus of this book where it should be story or characterisation or just something else.
Rating: Much better. 3 webheads out of 5

Venom 9: “Run part Three”
Script: Daniel Way
Pencils: Paco Medina
Inks: Jaun Vlasco
Story: following on from the slightly unbelievable nuking of most of the arctic, we see wolverine getting unharmed and still wearing a pair of jeans (go figure). He then sets out to find the person responsible but ends up getting possessed by venom (who had just killed the female bounty hunters looking for him) and going on a little rampage, destroying then ship the now bald Patricia and the agent are on, killing the agent in the process but before venom can finish of Patricia another space ship piloted by more identical female bounty hunters attacks them. Confused? that makes two of us.
The Good: This issues only saving grace is seeing wolverine bonded with the venom symbiote, it is pretty cool, however it just looks like a large version of the normal venom but with claws
The Bad: What what what? The whole story is making less and less sense and moving even further away from something that belongs in the marvel universe. Characters are killed all over the place and replaced by the same characters, having wolverine in it is bad enough with his stupid healing powers but an army of female bounty hunters is stretching the imagination to breaking point. The story is weak at best.

Venom 8: “Run part Three”
Script: Daniel Way
Pencils: Paco Medina
Inks: Jaun Vlasco
Story: Really what can I say? This series is just a joke, it’s how many hosts can venom take, and when that gets boring lets cram in wolverine because he isn’t in any other books at the moment. This issue provides with the typical mindless action and bald female bounty hunters, venom takes a couple more hosts, wolverine throws a plot twist in “what have you been up to reed” and the gets hit by a bloody nuclear warhead yep the last bit has me tearing the pages out as well.
The Good: The half assed plot twist that will probably be forgotten is about the only good thing in this waste of shelf space.
The Bad: All this book is, is action and cliff hangers. The whole nuclear missile thing seems a little pointless as we know nothing is going to come of it, wolverine will heal and then go and kick ass. The cover is icky and the story is weak, unless the story improves I think I’m going to drop this book like a brick.
Rating: Space waster. 2 webheads out of 5

Venom 7: “Run part Two”
Script: Daniel Way
Pencils: Paco Medina
Inks: Jaun Vlasco
Story: Yes this book is still going, and it’s not getting much better. Fans of Wolverine rejoice because the crazy canuck is in this book yay. Err no. This issue sees the massacre of an entire café at the hands of a combination of venom and the crazy female bounty hunter people. Lots of shooting happens and everybody seems to fight everybody else, something happens wolverine gets zapped by the agent and that pretty much it, this issue seems to be more like black hawk down in the way it’s just lots of fighting and little else.
The Good: Interesting cover pretty it’s style differs so much from any of the others. There are some nice ideas buried deep in here, the art is pretty slick with some fancy looking action battle poses with wolverine and his various sparing partners, including a pretty special splash page of wolverine and venom dukeing it out. It’s so good the issue is almost buyable.
The Bad: The story is weak boring and totally stupid. Not much happens apart form a bunch of aliens running around Canada and killing everything they come across, some with guns some without, oh and wolverine has been thrown in why oh why oh why???

Venom 6: “Run part One”
Script: Daniel Way
Pencils: Paco Medina
Inks: Jaun Vlasco
Story: after last issues anticlimactic ending this series continues on with a new art team that differ greatly and a shiny cover to boot. This issue see’s a very different looking suit tracking venom through the wasteland along with a very much alive Robertson, who must have been stunned or something. Anyway this issue adds some new factors in to the mix; another alien race complete with massive spaceship, more hosts and for some reason wolverine. This issue is basically a scene setter with the usual host swapping and character into.
The Good: As you may have noticed all new story arcs for the tsunami books come complete with shiny ink covers, this venom one is probably the best and will soon be featuring on a snazzy black t-shirt. Sadly this is the best bit of the issue.
The Bad: The story is not very interesting and seems to have wolverine in for no reason at all. The introduction of a new race in a really really big spaceship also seems a little overkill, it seems this book has totally lost the plot not to mention the suspense element that made the first few issues great. As for the art its not bad its just really different, after getting used to the style in the previous issues this look just feels wrong with characters looking a little odd to say the least, some people out there will be happy with this non manga-ish change and I think that’s why marvel has made the change, however I’m not impressed
Rating: All in all not great. 1.5 webheads out of 5
