Ultimate
Six #6 Script: Brian Michael Bendis Pencils: Trevor Hairsine Colors: Dave Stewart Inks: Danny Miki Story: It’s the all action
penultimate issue of this massive ultimate universe crossover, and what do
we have; ACTION! Its fight scenes the whole way through in this issue with
peter grappling with the captian, than realising what’s going on and
going and knocking old greeny for six, while the rest of the Ultimate’s
hand out the pain in liberal doses to the rest of the sinister six, the
sand man seems to get it worst of all when he just explodes in a shower of
sandy grit. And just when you though it couldn’t get any better, Harry
shows up and confront his goblinized dad. Can we all spell cliffhanger? The Good: If you like action this one
is for you, we see lots off ass kicking and my favorite bit by far was
seeing spidey hold his own again captain America, it’s about time Petey
got some respect on the power scale. It was also great to see Harry
Osborne being brought back in again in order to calm the raging green
goblin down, and boy what a cliffhanger. The Bad: I wish the artist or whoever
would make up their mind as to how big the green goblin is; on some panels
he looks hulk sized and the next he is no bigger than a normal man, it’s
really annoying and quite a shame as they seem to have taken this goblin
mutation to a sad extreme. It would be nice to see some variety in the
issues as it goes from story to action every other issue. Rating: ACTION ACTION ACTION. 4

Ultimate
Six #5 Script: Brian Michael Bendis Pencils: Trevor Hairsine Colors: Dave Stewart Inks: Danny Miki Story: There not called the Ultimate’s
for nothing, this issue see yet another epic installment of this ultimate
universe crossover. Following on from last issue peter has been kidnapped
by the six and persuaded by Norman Osborne to join with him or all his
loved ones will die, faced with such enormous danger peter goes along with
the goblins insane plans. Meanwhile aunt May and Mary Jane are put under
high security, while fury and the Ultimate’s discuss their next move.
This issue concludes with the six storming the white house only to be met
by the ultimate complete with a SHIELD helicarrier. The Good: The constant bickering
between the six is very good with only Otto and Norman Osborne appearing
to be in full control. It’s also good to see some real build up to this
series especially as you know the next issue is going to kick some serious
ass. The Bad: SHIELD putting aunt May under
protective custody seemed a little bit out of place, I guess we could kiss
peters secret identity goodbye. Also peter was yet again not used to his
full potential which is a real shame hopefully we will see Spiderman
kicking some ass soon. The art is sadly not up to much with the faces
being a little bit shoddy. Rating: Little to unreal. 3 webheads

Ultimate
Six #4 Script: Brian Michael Bendis Pencils: Trevor Hairsine Colors: Dave Stewart Inks: Danny Miki Story: Oh oh fury’s in trouble, with
the Prez because big Norman Osborne has pulled some strings and informed
the world about the violations of his human rights. But where oh where are
the Sinister five?? Why they are in a beach hut of course. Confused? You
will be. This issue sees a little bit of infighting between the villains,
a lot of procrastination from fury and the springing of a trap for the
Ultimates that results in the Triskileon being attacked by the combined
force of the 5 in order to secure a valuable asset name Spider-Man. The Good: This issue finally sees some
action just a shame that it’s totally over the top and completely
pointless, it’s starting to get a bit boring watching the sinister six
crash through buildings and killing everyone in sight. Did I just say
that? Hmm guess I did. What I really want is some story. The Bad: The art in this book is by
far it’s biggest let down, that and the story. It feels like something a
kid thought up one day about what a cool comic would be, and in some cases
that’s a good idea, but not this one. It’s too full of action, which
is weighed down by the masses of dialogue. Plus the art is sloppy and
inconsistent, I mean how much bigger can the green goblin get, he’s
starting to look more and more like the hulk each day. Rating: Far too slow. 1 webheads out

Ultimate
Six #3 Script: Brian Michael Bendis Pencils: Trevor Hairsine Colors: Dave Stewart Inks: Danny Miki Story: Now a lot of you may be
wondering just what the Ultimate’s were doing while the load of
supervillians escaped, well it seems they were sitting around doing not
much at all, because they five escapees had enough time to totally ransack
the base and escape before anyone showed up, all in all not the kind of
service you’d expect. After the first half of the issue being taken up
with pointless ultimate nonsense, the reminder is taken up with Nick
Fury/Peter Parker arguments which just don’t really feel right and make
Peter look irrational and Fury look a jerk. Anyway the issue comes to a
welcome close with Norman Osborne giving the president a call about some
problems with nick fury, probably the best bit in the entire issue The Good: well as far as good bits go,
I guess the eventual inclusion of Peter in to the story line could be
classed as good even though nothing happened, I think the reason this mini
got an extra issue is not because its so good, but because its so slow.
The only real good bit would be the conversation about mob connections to
the bugle. The Bad: from cover to cover this is
pretty much a bad issue, more like ultimate war than either of the
previous issue of ultimate six. The art in this issue is particularly bad,
with peter looking nothing like he does in ultimate spidey and the green
goblin looking more like a poorly drawn version of the hulk. This guy can’t
get the expressions right and it’s a shame especially when he’s
working with someone like Bendis whose work focuses on talking heads. The
cover is awful and the story is far to slow, a real let down from last
month. Rating: Far too slow. 1 webheads out

Six #2 Script: Brian Michael Bendis Pencils: Trevor Hairsine Colors: Dave Stewart Inks: Danny Miki Story: Continuing this re-imagining of
the sinister six in the ultimate universe, we see our villainous quintet
undergoing yet more therapy and reacting to it in a not so productive way,
In particular the green goblin who attempts to transform only to be put
down literally by giant man. This issue also features a large amount of
secretive eye communication between Doc Ock and Norman Osborn, which leads
to the good doctor, apparently making a concerted effort to move away form
his life of crime and to return to the scientific life. But is this all a
ruse? Of course it is, but the ultimate’s seem a little to trusting of
Ock and release him in to their own labs anyway. This very obviously leads
to the death of a number of shield employees and the escape of the entire
cell load of ultimate villains, who are now free to seek their revenge on
Spiderman, or has Norman got something else in mind for our webslinger. The Good: Another fantastic episode in
this action charge suspense team up, and boy is it heating up. The arts is
yet again fantastic although the characters look a little different form
the ultimate spidey likenesses, but hey its no biggie especially when the
story is as good as this one. I really like the way Bendis has added the
typical ultimate humour in to this very serious and quite thrilling
thriller, for example the mind games between the agents and cellmates are
particularly fun to read. The story is top notch and well worth picking up
as I’m sure this is going to be the definitive ultimate crossover. The Bad: Still no spidey and its
already issue 2, this is a wee bit annoying especially as we have already
seen the ultimate’s twice and these aren’t even their rogues, but hey
I’m sure Bendis has a plan up his sleeve. Rating: Still The Ultimate Crossover.

Ultimate
Six #1 Script: Brian Michael Bendis Pencils: Joe Quesada (prologue)Trevor
Hairsine (part 1) Colours: Richard Isanove (prologue)
Dave Stewart (part 1) Inks: Danny Miki Story: It’s the ultimate event you
spidey fans have been waiting for, the debut of the ultimate sinister
six has arrived, and lets just hope its no ultimate war. This issue is
basically a story-setting event that sadly doesn’t event feature spidey.
However it does feature a big old helping of his rogues gallery including
Electro, Sandman, Doc Ock, Norman Osborne and the all new Kraven the
Hunter. The issue is basically split into two sections, the wizard
exclusive preview which was used as a prologue to show how sandman ended
up in shield custody and the main bulk of the issue, which shows us how
spidey’s previous rogues are doing so far. Speaking of which we see most
of them getting along just fine; Sandman, Doc Ock, and Normie are already
in meetings with the ultimate Dr Henry (giant man) Pym as electro joins
them, in fairly well behaved fashion. We also see new improved kraven (now
with werewolf like powers) being brought in via an arrow to the calf. And
so the stage is nearly set for the big ultimate outing of the sinister
six, but to quote Norman himself “there will be six” The Good: The inclusion of the wizard
exclusive preview as a prologue makes this issue seem a little bit fuller,
but you have to ask your self if its in there at the expense of something
else, because without it this would be one small issue. The constant
reference and flash backs to previous outings in ultimate Spiderman makes
this issue seem very much a part of the ultimate universe and really helps
to pull the entire universe together. Cameos of smaller characters like
agents Sharon Carter and James Woo make this much more than just a hero
crossover but truly a universe crossover. The story is really good and
looks as if it can only get better as it progresses. The Bad: The art sadly lets this issue
down. It’s not bad, but its not ultimate either. The way the faces are
drawn is a constant let down, the villains look nothing like they did in
the pages of ultimate spidey and I can’t help but feel this would be a
better issue if it had been done by Bagley and Thibert. I just hope he can
draw fights Rating: The Ultimate Crossover. 5
