Fantastic Four: To Free
Atlantis
by Nancy Allen
Ever see a car
wreck on the highway, and just have to look? Well this is what
this book was comparable to. I was so anticipating a great FF
story. We had a great cover by the brothers Hildebrant and it
was guest starting Namor. Little did I know that this book
was totally devoted to Namor, and guest starring the FF. Wow
what happened with this book?
Namor gets poisoned by Dr.Doom and has to leave his kingdom
of Atlantis. So Subby goes and knocks on the FF's door. This
book would of worked great if it would have been just called
Namor, and his antagonist in the story was Dr.Doom. We could
of left the FF out of this book and they wouldn't be missed
at all. This book gets 1 and a half Spidey heads. Surely
Nancy Allen can do better.
Fantastic
Four: The Redemption
of the Silver Surfer by Micheal Jan Friedman
Well this book did
live up to expectations. Friedman brought in all of the great
FF aspects to the book. We have the negative zone, the Silver
Surfer, Blasstar, Galactus, or what seems like his twin bro.
I picked this book up and literally could not put it down, it
was just that good. Granted not the same caliber as
"What Savage Beast" but still it's one heck of a
great novel.
Not only is the writing superb, the chapter illustrations by
George Perez are outstanding. This guy was just born to draw
the FF and the Avengers. So find a copy of this one, its the
best FF novel to date. Plus it reads straight-forward, unlike
Chris Claremont's mess over in the regular title. 3 solid
Spidey heads out of 4.
