Daredevil: Predator's Smile
by
Christopher Golden
This book really took me by
surprise when I first picked it up. Golden sets this novel
during the second Frank Miller run on the title. I've never
really been a big Daredevil fan. I wasn't around for the
Miller stuff, and only picked it up when Karl Kessel started
writing. Since then, and after reading this novel I have been
swayed. Daredevil is a great character!
Perhaps DD is the one
that translates to prose the best. He is all too familiar
with the gritty detective work,j ust like an old Mike Hammer
novel. This story involves an arsonists setting fires, and
it's up to DD to find the criminal. While doing this DD has
to dodge assaults from Bullseye whom was hired by the
Kingpin. There is a back-story of a criminal trying to go straight, and being conflicted when his wife is kidnapped.
With great reading material such as these I'm surprised there
hasn't been more DD novels. If there are more, please have Mr.
Golden write them. It's his best work yet under the Marvel
novels. Three and a half Spidey heads on this one.
